Gaming without the best sound quality is degrading your experience.
The entire gaming experience includes visuals and sound, melded into an in-depth storyline or immersive gameplay that helps bring the game to life.
HyperX Cloud Flight gaming headset is one of the world’s leading headsets for gamers.
But what makes this headset better than the rest?
That’s what we’re trying to find out in our HyperX Cloud Flight Review.
HyperX has made a name for itself in the wired headset industry, but in the wireless market, its products have remained subpar.
The Cloud Flight changes that, allowing HyperX to take on the wireless market.
Comfort and Compatibility
Two of my main concerns with headphones are comfort and compatibility.
When you’re gaming for hours, you need to keep the pressure off of your ears.
Memory foam allows these ear cups to conform to your ear, easing any of the discomfort that other ear cups produce.
The Cloud Flight offers a black plastic with small red wires and will light-up the logos on the ear cup.
Both ear cups offer 90-degree rotation, and there are LED lighting effects on them.
What’s really nice about the rotating ear cups is that it allows for added comfort when taking a break.
Simply allow the headset to stay around your neck, and the ear cups can rotate to allow for added comfort.
Now, the LED lighting does look nice, but it will eat into your battery life. Three LED modes are offered, and they include:
- Off which offers 30 hours of battery life
- Breathing which offers 18 hours of battery life
- On which offers 13 hours of battery life
Each side of the headphones has an adjustable, steel slider, which is both durable and can be adjusted to add comfort while gaming.
Even when wearing gaming glasses, this headset was rather comfortable.
I normally wouldn’t mention controls in the comfort or compatibility category, but the Cloud Flight’s controls are intuitive and do add to the user’s comfort when playing.
The controls are on the ear cups, and you can access:
- LED effects
- Mic mute button
Essentially, all of your controls are just a touch away, so it makes wear and adjustment much more comfortable. The controls, built into the ear cups, also allow for less weight versus cheaper headphones.
A lot of models will have the volume control in a solid piece of plastic which hangs down from a cord (on corded models of course), and this makes gameplay uncomfortable.
The built-in controls allow these headphones to weight just 300 grams without the microphone attached and 315 grams with the microphone attached.
In terms of compatibility, the HyperX Cloud Flight headset is plug-and-play ready with:
- PS4 Pro
There is a 3.5 mm analog cable that is also offered, and this cable will allow you to use the headset on:
- Mobile devices
- Nintendo Switch
- Xbox One
But when the cable is attached, you’ll lose out on your neat LED function as well as your ability to use a microphone.
Microphone and Sound Immersion
I prefer this headset because the microphone can detach from the unit.
When you’re playing solo or don’t want to join in on Discord or TeamSpeak, remove the microphone.
It’s a lot more comfortable to wear a headset when the microphone isn’t in the way.
But when the microphone is in place, it’s great.
Whether you’re streaming on Twitch or playing an MMORPG, the microphone will provide clear voice and reduces the noise that other microphones produce.
Crisp, clear voice production goes well when playing games where you have to rely on a team to win. The microphone is designed to offer noise-cancellation, and it works very well.
In addition, you’ll be able to play up to 30 feet away without any loss in sound quality.
Each ear cup is designed to bring out the audio of your game, and this is done in several ways:
- Lows are designed to be crystal clear
- Mids and highs are also clear and amplified to bring out the ambiance of the game
Enhanced bass production is also offered, allowing for the best sound quality possible. There are 50mm drivers that are also able to produce better overall quality when playing.
These headphones are designed for long hours of gaming without any discomfort or issues with sound.
Gaming-grade wireless headphones, the Cloud Flight charges using a USB cord that will plug right into your tower or laptop.
Sound pressure levels stay at 106 dBSPL with less than 2% THD.
- 3 LED modes to save battery life
- Detachable microphone
- Controls built into the 90-degree rotating ear cups
- Wireless range up to 30 meters
- Memory foam comfort
- Sound cuts out on rare occasions
There are some rare occasions where the sound cuts out, but this is often when going in to the kitchen to get a drink or being further away from the rig.
It’s not uncommon for the sound to cut out on wireless headphones, so this is not an issue that is unique to the HyperX Cloud Flight.
Otherwise, this feature-rich headset is great for long hours of play without worrying about charging the battery or dealing with uncomfortable pressure on your ears.
There’s a lot to love about this headset, and we covered a lot of really great information on this headset. A wrap-up of the great features that this headset offers are:
- 30 hours of battery life
- Wireless function
- Enhanced base production
- Memory foam material for added comfort
- Multi-platform compatibility
- 90-degree rotating ear cup design
- 4 GHz wireless frequency
- TeamSpeak and Discord certified
- Detachable, noise cancellation microphone

HyperX brings the comfort of their signature headphones to their wireless lineup with the Cloud Flight.
Comfortable, durable and offering crisp, clear sound, these headphones provide 30 hours of gameplay and work perfectly on PC and PlayStation 4.
With wired options for the Xbox and Nintendo, the Cloud Flight is a great overall wireless option that enhances your game’s sound and adds to the immersion of the game.
