YellowSn0w in VietNam

Hi Dev team ! Hoping you guys read this thread.

in VietNam, there are 3 GSM carrier available now: Vinaphone, Mobifone, Viettel.

If we use yellowSn0w with the old sim (32k sim), unlock ok, but very difficult to get signal again after each reboot.

And making a call will random fail after unlock done.

I got my 3G unlocked last night and worked perfectly on Vinaphone and mobilefone. I didn't have VietTel SIM to test so not sure but I think it should be OK sine the othe 2 carriers work just fine.

Just make sure you restore to 2.2 because mine didn't work on the first try (update from 2.1 to 2.2) and make sure reset "Make it mine" to original carrier if you use it.

just help my friends unlock 2 other 3G and both working perfectly at least for now. I noticed signal is a bit weaker but not sure if it is the unlock causing it because it is randomly.

I got this to work fine on one of the 2 phones. And this is for VN Mobifone. One phone, seems to be able to connect fine even when I turn it off then back on, it is still able to connect within just a few seconds. But for the other phone, I can't even get it to connect at all. tried removing/inserting sim card so many times, nothing. I wonder if it's the difference in how it's activated/jailbroken (By either leaving the cable in after restoring it or unplugging it right away).

i unplugged it right away so maybe try to unplug it next time you unlock

oh i ran into that problem with one of my phones also. I restored it back to 2.2 then started the process all over again and it worked.

After retry with 0.9.4 yellowsn0w gives all Vietnamese gsm sim great result: all work !! Just remove and insert the sim again after every reboot. Thanks Dev alot for the right time beta fix.

i live in the states but i will travel to VN this year. Can i apply the unlock in the states with a mobifone simcard and will it work once i bring it to VN ?

Sure you can. Unlocked mean not lock any more so you can use with any sim carrier in VietNam.
