well it seems like people have success by using a different sim than tying to put in the one they want to use and it works. I dont know, i cant figure it out, i installed yellowsn0w when it was first released and it was fine except outgoing calls, than updated to 9.6 and everything great til i rebooted my phone, cant seem to get over a small hold up
It's working for me on a Singapore SIM card without any issues. The only 'bug' that I noticed is that when I am on a plane, I first turn on airplane mode and then turn off the phone when required. But when I turn the phone back on now the airplane mode is off and the phone begins to search for a signal. It's definitely not a deal breaker :-)
Thanks to everyone for all the hard work!!
Am I the only guy in the world to have no joy whatsoever?!?!? Tried absolutely every tutorial/method/suggestion and still stuck with "No Service"
The only thing I can think of is that I can't be certain that the phone was originally activated with official SIM, as it came without one when I bought it. Obviously I restored it to 2.2, 02.28.00 to begin with. Reading through here though, it sounds like 0.9.6 has fixed everyone's issues (including the "No Service" one) but I'm having no luck at all!
Can anyone offer any suggestions? I'd be eternally grateful!!!
have youCode:tried this.

Yes mate, of course... multiple timesTried with both QuickPwn and with a custom FW via Pwnage; with SBSettings and/or BossPrefs; SIM in/out; Airplane on/off; etc... One thing I thought might be the issue was not disconnecting from itunes early enough but have since double checked the "(null) (null)" setting in Carrier and still no joy.
I'm sure it's an activation issue, rather than a carrier locking, as I tried an O2 SIM today and got the same result. Either that or the phone's goosed anyway!![]()
Restore and update using Itunes firmware without any simcard inside. Once you get the usb plug showing on your iphone then close itunes and open up quickpwn 2.2 for 3G. Then just jailbreak. Once jailbreaking is done turn off 3G.Add your simcard. Add yellows0w through either cydia or installer. Install yellowsn0w. Then reboot phone. Once the phone turns on you will see it go into airplane mode then start to search. Then it should show your carrier. I have done this with a bunch of iphones already without a problem.

Thinks to DEV Team
I have now tested with both useable providers in Japan (Docomo and Softbank). Calls work in/out. Forgot to test data on Docomo, but it works without APN modification through softbank.
Thanks again Dev Team, ya'll the shiznit![]()
