Trying all the workarounds I can find, the best result I can get is "No Service"
Tried with the following sims:
Orange UK
Vodafone EG
T-Mobile US
The only suggestion I did not try is to re-jailbreak and hacktivate. This is not an option for me, as this disables AT&T which is my US carrier.

Doesn't work either for me, No Service Error still exists

Please try out this :
1. Download and install BossPrefs and Yellowsn0w via Cydia
2. Disable all Functions with BossPrefs (donīt worry if you canīt disable EDGE)
3. Reboot ypur Phone with BossPrefs (not in the normally way - important !)
4. Wait 1.30 min when you see the Lockscreen
5. Take out your Sim and insert it.
6. Wait a moment
7. Go on Settings and Turn on the fly mode
8. Turn off Fly Mode
9. take out t-mobile sims
10.put in at&t sims for 1minute
11. take out AT&T sims card
12. put in T-mobile Sims

My experience. Pay monthly iPhone 2.2 with 2.28 bb. Jailbreak.
I originally used 9.0 and had trouble getting my pay monthly Vodafone to work = got 'no service' and 'invalid sim' messages.
Reloaded with 9.1 from the repo using Cydia.
Took out O2 sim, insterted Vodafone sim, rebooted phone and waited the full minute. Took out and in the sim. Within less than a minute had full Vodafone signal with 3G. Tried calls out and in and both working. Set up the cellular data APN etc for Vodafone and checked Google in Safari, all working perfectly.
Now I can chop and change sim cards and the Vodafone signal and banner is almost instant. No further need to take sim in and out/reboot.
Haven't tried a PAYG sim as yet but it could be I had success as I am using a pay monthly. So far it has been simplicity getting it to work and all I did was follow the iclarified steps... sorry for all you folks who are having failed attempts.

Hmm.. While trying to run Yellowsn0w from the Terminal. I keep getting the error "open: Resource busy"
AdiPhone:/usr/bin root# ./yellowsn0w
open: Resource busy
AdiPhone:/usr/bin root# ./yellowsn0w -r
AdiPhone:/usr/bin root# ./yellowsn0w -s
open: Resource busy
Only the Reset option works for me.
I cant even run the -c
Usage: yellowsn0w [options]
Options:
-s Single-shot mode
-c Just check for compatibility
-r Just reset the baseband
-q Use quicker method (only for some SIM cards)
-a Use alternate method (only for some SIM cards)
AdiPhone:/usr/bin root# ./yellowsn0w -c
open: Resource busy
Any idea why?
Other than that, my Vodafone India locked phone, doesnt work with Airtel.
I get Signal, but as soon as I try to call it doesnt go through.
No calls can be recieved, no SMS goes out/comes in.
DATA doesnt work. Well, nothing works except the signal is just "there".
