    Default yellowsn0w bruteforce wrapper

Hey guys, I've just wrote a little script to workaround some of the busy/error messages that I get while running yellowsn0w. The purpose of the script is to run yell0wsnow with reset and "oneshoot" flags until it executes properly.

Below is the output of an example execution:

    aiPhone:/usr/bin root#./ywrapper
[+] Sleeping 10secs to let springboard boot up properly
[+] Trying to reset baseband - Attempt 0
[+] Trying to check baseband - Attempt 0
[+] Trying to unlock baseband - Attempt 0
[+] Returned line open: Resource Busy
[+] Trying to unlock baseband - Attempt 1
[+] Returned line open: Resource Busy
[+] Trying to unlock baseband - Attempt 2
[+] Success! iphone was unlocked successfully
    aiPhone:/usr/bin root#

To automate the execution of the wrapper at boot time, you can call ywrapper from the /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.iphone-dev.yellowsn0w.plist file.

This was tested using yellowsn0w 0.9.5.

You can find the script here: http://rapidshare.com/files/179533011/ywrapper.html

    Take care,

    Marcos

Yes. During today´s tests I didn´t put the iphone on airplane mode. Please let me know if the script works for you.

One thing that I forgot to mention, perl runtimes and modules are available at coredev repository: http://coredev.nl/

    Cheers!

This is very interesting. Its this sort of input that will really help get the unlock fully operational. It may not be the ultimate solution but it definitely helps.

I've stopped reading the comments on the dev blog because too many people are just moaning because it doesn't work for them.

Users like marcoskerp are actually doing something to help contribute.
The script is very simple and many people will think "so what?", but at least its a step in the right direction.

btw, is it ok if I try to modify/add to it to see if it can do more ?

Update: If the baseband check fails too often, the "repair needed" message appears.
This step could be bypassed altogether as all it does is check for compatibility and nothing else.

Hi navco786, thanks for your comments. Please feel free to modify the script. As you said, it's really simple the way it works. It would be great if extra logic can be added on it.

Regarding the baseband check, you are right. It seems that it could be removed without any further side-effects.

    Take care,

    Marcos

If you receive the "Invalid Sim" message, running ywrapper takes longer to work. If yellowsn0w -s takes longer than 34 runs, the iphone reboots itself. Mine also unactivated until I removed the sim. Reinsertion activated it again. iphone was unlocked after another 10 seconds and remained unlocked after reboot.

ywrapper only needs to be run if the unlock did not work for you or the unlock stopped working after initial success, e.g. after rebooting.
So its best not to add it to LaunchDaemons because resetting the baseband causes the unlock to fail again.

The ultimate aim of yellowsn0w at the moment (0.9.5) is to achieve the "perfect state". The perfect state is where the unlock works, even after rebooting, without user intervention, e.g. toggling Airplane mode or removing/inserting sim. It does happen but is easily lost if you remove the sim again at any point.

There are 3 other states that you will find at the moment afte installing yellowsn0w and rebooting (with your non-iphone sim inserted):

    1. You see 5 dots and no carrier name. Toggling Airplane mode on-off
shows "Searching" for less than a second then back to 5 dots. This is the hardest to fix.

    2. You see "Invalid Sim" displayed where the carrier name/signal should be.
This is fixed by the -r option followed by -s (using ywrapper is best).
After -s ends successfully (no resource busy), you should reboot and then wait 10 secs.

    3. You see "No service" displayed. This requires the -s option only.
    Then toggle airplane mode on/off.

Has anybody seen any other states or different methods of fixing the above 3 ?

Timing is very important. Waiting 60 secs+ before toggling airplane mode, sim insertion or "sliding to unlock" works best. I am still experimenting with the timings to see which works best.

khaled_cs: I've uploaded the script into google code. You can find it here: http://code.google.com/p/ywrapper/.

navco786: Please feel free to modify the published code at google code (send my your email to kerpdev at gmail.com and I will add you as a project member)

Regarding boot time execution, I'm only launching ywrapper at boot time (I removed yellosn0w execution from the launchdaemon file).

Regarding states, I'm only getting state 2.
