okay brother ... so if i have 2.2.0 firmware and i need to use this ver.0.9.7 can i unlock my iPhone or this version. doesn't work.

The Yellowsn0w version has been updated to 0.9.7. Yellowsn0w is available from Cydia or Installer - this version allows compatibility with pwned 2.2.1 system (not baseband) - again - remember 0.9.7 yellowsn0w DOES NOT WORK WITH 2.2.1 (02.30.03) directly - you need to be running a ‘pwned’ version of 2.2.1 which doesn’t upgrade the baseband.

According to information above, this version allows compatibility with 2.2.1 system.
Hopefully it is still backward compatible with 2.2

I'm running 0.9.7 updated from 0.9.6 on 16gb 3G 2.2... Works totally fine on UK Vodafone and Orange. Hanging back updating to 2.2.1 as its only minor fixes.

How to avoid iPhone RELOCK by Apple FW 2.2.1

If you dont want to join the numerous people whose iTunes AUTOMATICALLY checks for updates, go to the Preferences and uncheck the box that says Check For Updates Automatically.

This MIGHT help you not to updadte your Firmware on an Unlocked iPhone.

As you should realize, updating your Firmware RELOCKS your iPhone, and yellowsn0w 9.7 will NOT UNLOCK FW 2.2.1 if you let iTunes UPDATE or RESTORE to FW 2.2.1

yellowsn0w 9.7 WILL NOT UNLOCK an iPhone that has been updated to FW 2.2.1 in iTunes.. (unless you make a special pwned version of 2.2.1 that prevents baseband update to BB 2.30.. ONLY baseband 2.28 can be unlocked with yellowsn0w)

If you dont understand this post, DONT update to FW 2.2.1, it will KILL yellowsn0w.
