Pleased to hear that. It'll all be worth it in the end! And just to let you know all versions of yellowsn0w have worked on my phone...but with all I need to go into and out of airplane mode after reboot to search for a signal.

Further update: Ignore below...needed to set Cellular Data settings under General - Network - Cellular Data Settings.
Connection info here: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=626191
Forgot about this one as it was a long time ago I last did it!
Update: Although I have cell connection, I ventured outside today and without my wireless connection could not get any data:
'Could not activate cellular data network: You are not subscribed to a cellular data service'
Just to clarify, this is the same account that works fine on my unlocked 1st gen iphone so it's not an account issue.

Your settings need to be (for UK)
APN = internet (monthly)
APN = pp.vodafone.co.uk (PAYG)
username = web
password = web
that should see you right :-)

Failed for me with 0.9.4, but worked 0.9.5 when following method #3 http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=62001. Incidentally I made sure that iTunes did not activate the phone.
Not sure if 3G is working too well, but could be due to lack of 3G availability, although I'm getting a strength of 5 bars.
Calls, GPRS data and SMS are all working.
Much thanks to the Dev Team.
