I've done this about 3 times in the last two years because I would go camping and on the hikes my phone would fall off.
You could just turn off your phone and tell them that you dropped your sim somwhere while taking out your battery. I've done it many time.

    FYI ...
Taken from Dev Team's blog, here's a comment from MuscleNerd

There's something about the U.S. T-Mobile sim cards newer than approx 39.xx that is stopping outgoing calls. We're working on it
I think everyone should relax and wait.

There is a yellowsn0w carrier unlock feedback page. Please go there to submit your results

I've gotten a couple 3Gs onto a T-Mobile USA SIM using non other than a 37.00C series SIM.

My site is on my profile name, I'm not here to link spam.

After two days and close to 20 hours of doing every suggestion on this board and others. I got both of my 3G with 2.2 firmware/02.28 to work with my Tmobile sim cards. From the beginning after just less than an hour I got both iphones recognized Tmobil network with full bar, text and EDGE work perfectly and incoming calls were a breeze but I hit dead end with outgoing calls. Just got "call failed", frozen dialing screen, 5 dots, etc... Did everything possible with every tip, trick, suggestion but to no success. Then I took my wife's Tmobile sim card and installed in one iphone with work immediately with outgoing calls. I was jumping for joy after countless hours of frustration. Again, I then put my wife sim to the second iphone and that one works like a charm. I guess with Tmobil U.S.A sim card you have the get the right one or something...

I am going to Tmobile tomorrow for more new sim cards. Hope this give you some hope.

Have you tried to Toggle Airplane Mode ON/OFF after reboot?

And for anyone else in the US does your carrier show up immediately after reboot as I have to turn Airplane Mode ON/OFF after a reboot (same from v. 0.9.4) but sense the last v. which I started testing everything worked 100%
