I tried my prepaid card, and I can make call-out, however, with my postpaid card, I can't. My postpaid card number is 525033. I am not sure if these are the beginning numbers or the ending numbers as there are other 4 groups of numbers printed on the SIM as well.

By the way, it's fairly easy to regain signal now with v0.94 yellowsn0w. Just turn on Airplan mode and wait for 10 seconds, then turn it off. "Searching" appears and signal regained.

Those numbers are on the back of your tmobile SIM card (printed horizontally at the edge)
For those that cannot make outbound call after yellowsn0w, can you report your number

exactly with 0.94 is simpler to find your carrier, however, I am still unable to make calls.

I have incoming, outgoing as well as edge working fine on TMobile USA using 0.94. Here are my steps if it helps any of you.

    1) Restored to Official 2.2.
    2) Used a PWNED 2.2 Firmware with Activation, 531 MB root partition size, cydia, no installer and DFU Restored to iPhone.
    3) Install all updates to cydia.
    4) Set Security Pin (The iPhone PIN not SIM PIN).
    5) Synced with iTunes to install some of my Applications.
    6) Install yellowsn0w.
    7) Reboot iPhone.
    8) On Reboot at the unlock screen enter PIN to unlock.
    9) Wait about 50 secs.
    10) Go to Settings, turn on AirPlane mode.
    11) Wait 15 secs.
    12) Turn off AirPlane mode. iPhone will show searching signal in about 1-2 secs. And after 5 - 10 secs show T-Mobile as the provider.

After that I can receive and make calls as well as access edge after setting the APN to epc.tmobile.com

you might just have a right SIM card. One of my 2 SIM cards works and it is an earlier version SIM card i got for my prepaid account. The later version for my postpaid tmobile account doesn't work for call-out.

Default which sim card? my sim or your sim.

could someone that has their iphone working, could they please say which version they have, and what the first 8 of it is? mine says 39.01a, and it also starts with 89012605.

mine does not work with the 0.9.1, but i'll try it soon with the 9.4 update.

Is it possible to walk into T-Mobile today and get a new SIM w/same number (tell them you lost your phone or something)? If possible, I wonder if the new SIM would work?

yea its possible to get a new sim, but they charge about $20-$40 depending which vender you go to, and you have to report that your phone was lost and that your sim should be temporarily suspended. then you call in with the new sim number you got and they should reactivate your phone with the same number. I've done this about 3 times in the last two years because I would go camping and on the hikes my phone would fall off.
