I live in South Africa and use the Vodacom network.

I acquired a 3g iphone from New York which sadly does not work in South Africa without a turbo sim which I found.

Last night I upgraded to 2.2 and the latest baseband, used quickpwn to pwn my device, added the rep to cydia and installed boss Prefs and Yellowsn0w. Use boss prefs to turn everything off and reboot. Restarted my phone, took out the sim and turbo sim
put the sim back in and nothing
I tried again following various options I saw around, i.e. leave off for a minute, take sim out , replace sim etc

I even left it overnight, no joy.

I then tried with my turbo sim and thats not even working ?? so I kinda just figured that perhaps the turbo sim requires the older baseband. now I have no idea how to downgrade or get my phone working again and work starts tomorrow! I need to get my phone working somehow today please please please.

Last thing I wish to do is go to Jody Sanders for help.

u should not upgrade to get the baseband, u should restore to 2.2 original firmware then used quickpwn. install boss pref and yellowsn0w and reset the network setting. then reboot using boss pref.

try restore back to firmware 2.2 using itunes then use quickpwn.hope this will help

Thanks, however I am on windows, and that tutorial appears to be for upgrading, now downgrading the firmware?

or am I wholly mistaken here?

This was really a one way ticket as you can`t downgrade the baseband.
You should try the new 0.9.5, and once the phone booted with the sim inside, wait 20 seconds, then turn airplanemode on > off ( with 3 secs interval ).

Eeek, not meaning to offend anyone but it is clear that as long as you go for the 2.2 firmware and latest baseband it doesn't mater where you get it, either upgrade or restore to a 2.2. Anyhow, once you have quickpwnd and downloaded 9.5 YS the main thing for obscure (again sorry if that offends) is to go into settings - general - reset (down the bottom of page) and 'reset netwwork settings'
This is exactly what I did and it went fine. Alternatively keep reading :-)

I am using the 0.95 YS and am not getting any joy

I have tried the aeroplane mode and reset network settings and all I get is no service.

I presumeyou are using a modern GSM SIM card which has 3G facility. I understand it worked with turbosim before so it should work with YS without Turbo (and you are right turbo wont work with 2.2)
I can only suggest that you try with another SIM. if that doesn't work go back to Cydia, remove YS 9.5, reboot the iphone, go back to Cydia and reinstall YS 9.5 - reboot, reset network,reboot and try SIM card again.
There are more successes with 9.5 than 9.4 and most failures appear to be more to do with the iphone settings or SIM than the actual YS hack. Trial and error is your friend. You must be near someone who will let you test their SIM in the phone surely?
Finally, if not already tried, a full restore without anything other than Cydia loaded before you add your old iTunes stuff (music, settings etc, may work)
