I have tried all the versions of yellowsn0w upto 0.95 here in Pakistan with local sims plus my ATT sim which is on roaming. Everything was go till the 0.95 version; and Now i keep on getting call failed. Do you where I can get the older versions of Yellowsn0w? Looks like they tried to fix the call failed issue for Tmobile us in the latest version but its not really working for other countries

Timing is very important. Waiting 60 secs+ before toggling airplane mode, sim insertion or "sliding to unlock" works best. I am still experimenting with the timings to see which works best.

Airplane mode should not be such a hard fix you could add a line to unload and load commcenter with a 5 second wait inbetween...

you should rewrite it as a shell script then it can be run by adding a .plist to LaunchDeamons, I have made a really simple one and I don't really know how to do a check to see if it returned resource busy or not, I'll paste a copy of it below. I would really appreciate it if you could add that in:

Hi dtube,

I've been through this state in my own iphone.
The way I get it solved and unlock it is using the following steps:

1. Execute yellowsn0w -c
If you get resource busy, keep on it until passes.
2. Hard reset (or on sbsettings, reboot), not power off.
Make sure the sim card you want to use is in the phone.
3. After boot, go to homescreen and wait over 1 min.
4. Then toogle airplane mode on, wait 10 s and switch it off.
5. Your iphone should search the network, the Operator menu should appears, among with signal bars and the carrier logo.
6. If it doesn't work, try again, and again, or use another sim card.

** My phone:
iphone 3G, 16 GB, jailbroken 2.2.0, cydia, yellowsn0w 0.9.8
First time, I could unsimlock it (after several yellowsn0w command start from ssh console). It looked like a piece of luck.

** The problem:
=> Today, I've shut the phone down for some reason. Restarted it, my SIM was no longer recognized!

** What I've tried:
I tested everything regarding airplane mode, timings, inserting/removing SIM, 3rd party SIM or original, switching off every network setting.....
Still not working.
I tried with ywrapper as mentionned in this good thread => it unlocked after 15 tries. BUT, when I entered my PIN code, again: 5 dots, nothing.
Since then, ywrapper just gives up after 30 (32 ? 34 ?) tries. I did it 3 three times already.

** Any idea ?

** Two more questions:
1) is unsimlocking supposed to be permanent? (meaning : I'll be able to reboot without the risk to be stuck again ?)
My experience is that it's not permanent, or I've not been lucky...
(I'm not talking about firmware upgrades, especially with 2.2.1 that must be done carefully regarding the modem version)

2) I'm not that far from official unlocking process with my provider (Orange FRance): the operation is free when your iphone is 6 month old. What if I unlock the phone this way ? I understood I'll have to reinstall a fresh 2.2.0 (not jailbroken), then play with itunes to make it officially unsimlocked. Then I should be able to jailbreak it again and reinstall everything. Will the unSIMlock trick be permanent this way ?

Hi,

YellowSn0w does not work with SIM cards with the PIN enabled. Try disabling the PIN, it worked for me
