I tried this tutorial first but no joy. I then found a post that described how another user used his universal sim card with the tutorial then removed the universal sim and put his regular sim back in - I tried that and it worked! I then synced my phone with iTunes to get all my contacts back and today decided to try the tutorial again (with the latest version of yellowsn0w).
I simply rebooted my phone the regular way typed in the commands and voila - working 3g phone in Lebanon on the alfa network.
I rebooted my phone after that but had no signal and to repeat the commands and it worked again, so I'm happy!

Respect to all. I've been trying to unlock my phone since the first of the month. Worked on both my E-plus and O2 SIM cards. Good lookin' out from Germany!
i just realized that version 5 is all about the mobileterminal and messing around with it enough. I can honestly tell you all i have abso f!@#$ lutely no idea what i was doing, but it just happened, and in in my instance, the screen was freezing, which must have meant that it was thinking, and then I just tripped out because it said iphone activated. So imagine to my surprise when the full bars came up and tmobile showed up... excited as !@#$$. But then again, its still kinda unstable and not really guaranteed, so if it makes any of those whose iphones are still locked feel better, i can't help but feel that it'll go back to locked status until a non-beta version is released. what i did, and i know this doesn't help because this part happens on a case-by-case basis, is just follow deli_gt's updates. I can't tell you exactly what it was i did, only thing i can say is that i jumped from one update to the next. If one didn't work, went to the next one. So update 1, nope that doesn't work, update 2 and so on and so forth. The caller id was always on, I jailbroke with and without the att sim(worked when i jailbroke with the att sim)and toggled airplane on and off for more times than i care for. As for the sim card, it's an 89012601 from tmobile usa in hawaii with the perpendicular numbers reading 525033. Oh and i had to restore and jailbreak it multiple times, so for those of you that are in the process of doing it, that's all we can really do at this point, until a non-beta version is released. :( As far as downloading themes go, that remains to be seen, so i think i'll try it out. You'll hear from me if it went south. Thanks Deli_Gt.
Update: just removed my sim and put it back in, powered it on and off,toggled with the airplane mode(10 seconds, im kinda chicken to see what happens if i leave it on for longer) added programs through cydia, and while i was hoping to see my bars go to no service or see sim failure, it never happened.
I'd also like to say that i don't mean to offend anyone when i say the unlock is unstable, its just that that's how it's been for me and i only mean to be real and i'll be the first to admit i can never do as good a job as the dev team, or deli_gt can do.

Having spent 5 hours trying different sequences, rebooting, re-installing etc etc I finally got it to work for T-Mobile UK.
Not sure if its been mentioned here before but if you have PIN protection on your SIM remove it before placing in the iPhone and unlocking.
For me ... it was 5 hours of hell ... then remove PIN .. 5 mins of Joy :)
I had no luck unlocking my iPhones with yellowsn0w (Signal lost when call-out) but for whatever reason hAcx's prog works flawlessly & really fast.I was wondering which version of yellowsn0w is used in it?
