My 2g finally crapped out on me. Going to pick up a fresh unhacked 3g today and I need to find out the unlock process. It currently has 2.1- 2.11.7 on it.
What is the correct process to have it unlocked?
From what I have read. i gathered up this
1st upgrade to 2.2 with 02.28.03 firmware.
Then do I pwnit or upgrade it with a pwned firmware to jailbreak/activate? I currently don't have a mac so I have never used Pwnagetool
then unlock with yellowsn0w
Check your FW again, please: 2.0, 2.1, 2.2, 2.2.1?
i don't have the phone yet. but I believe it was 2.1 or 2.2.
I'm sure that the seller said the baseband of 2.11.7
After I update it to 2.2
Do i have to use pwn using pwnagetool on a mac?

The other reason for me asking here is that I read on the iphone dev site that I shouldn't use Quickpwn. Is that correct?

the reason they say dont use quickpwn is because you have to officially upgrade the iphone then quickpwn jailbreaks it after that.... once the upgrade is applied the baseband firmware is also upgraded causing the unlock to fail
