Officiel unSIMlock, then what?
I have a french Orange-SIM-locked iphone 3G 16 GB, 2.2.0, jailbroken, yellowsn0wed and so on... and I am using an alternate provider.
It's a 6 months old phone, so I can call Orange and force them to unlock it for free.
I heard the procedure is to reinstall the officiel 2.2.0, connect to iTunes, let it see it's unlocked.
- what will happen when I jailbreak it again? will it be considered unSIMlocked? am I gonna be yellowsn0w-free forever ?
- furthermore, if I upgrade to a jailbroken 2.2.1, with upgraded baseband, will it still be unSIMlocked?
- same question will apply for firmware 3.0 one day...
Legally unlocked iPhones should remain unlocked no matter what you do

Ok, thank you
Technically, this means something is unlocked in a persistent way, something that has never been broken yet, am I right?
if the provider has unlocked your phone, it remains unlocked forever regardless of the firmware you are using. When you plug the phone via itunes, it will automatically activate the phone for you regardless of the provider you are using. After that you can jailbreak the phone.
