This is true. I was looking scouting for pricing of a "Jailbroken iPhone 3G 8GB" and most of the Jailbroken were considerably more than the locked iPhones, however 99% of Jailbroken were unlocked. Many of them were with turbo/piggyback SIMs. Be sure to read carefully before purchasing anything on eBay. eBay is about money, money, money. Once the item is sold, very rarely would the seller refund you if it was listed as "unlocked with piggy back sim."

That is a smart idea considering there are rumors that the next gen iPhone will be released by "July 17th" (only a rumor). I'm sure you can wait that long for a considerable better product. At the same time, the soft unlock isn't going to be ready immediately (possibly might not ever work) so you'll have to sign a contract with AT&T or your local iPhone service provider.

If you can wait a couple of months then that's a good idea, if not eBay is your best option.

Before buying you should confirm that the BB is 2.28 (ask the seller the question if it's not specifically mentioned). There are bargains to be had but you do have to be careful.
He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.
