In every market except for the U.S., T-Mobile's 3G uses the 'correct' frequency bands.

Thanks for posting, really appreciate your help with the 3G unlock.

So, in your opinion, is a 3G unlock good for anything in the USA?

Here is my opinion. I think it is worth unlocking 3G in the USA, because Tmobile costs less per month than ATT, and because Im jealous of the blue location dot on 3G phones, but NOT because of 3G speeds.. And Im also jealous that folks with pwned 2G iPhones have access to some cool Apple Store apps, like the Clinometer. OTOH, folks on 3G iPhones cannot search their calendar, only their contacts. On my 2G, I can search both, which to me is better.

And the biggest issue, afaict, is whether the USA customer lives in an area where ATT has reception that is better than the Tmobile service in that particular area.

    Other thoughts welcome.

Respect to Dev Team for persevering on the 3G Unlock.

    Happy Holidays

    yeah sure, you are right...

even so, paying the ETF for AT&T is painful, I miss iPhone EDGE online store

I think if I will pay the ETF, getting it unlocked from Apple makes more sense to me...

me too, so, where do I have to go to get an Apple unlocked iPhone? is it Italy and Hong Kong, and Australia that have the Apple unlocked phones? Anyone else?

And, whats it going to cost me?

    what does that mean?
If I go buy a new iPhone for Xmas, what baseband will it have?

    > Baseband versions higher are currently not supported.

how do you know what baseband you are getting if you buy the phone now?

thanks for the link to that reply

it says lots of useful stuff, including
" The latest (and probably now shipping) baseband is 02.28.00 with firmware 2.2 "

So no unlock for a Xmas purchased iPhone.. thats too bad..
