[iphone 3g 2.2.1] [yellowsn0w 0.9.7] Weird happenings when recieving calls
i just upgraded this morning to the new version with custom fw so baseband doesnt update, and upgraded yellowsn0w to latest version,
and one thing i did was try to restore my apps with aptbackup but it turns out that it failed in a few ways so some things showed up and others did not
now when i have friends call me, the phone sometimes will not ring at all, or only vibrate, and when i try to answer the phone, it will lag up completely not allowing me to answer.
Also had a problem later where the lockscreen froze up and wouldnt unlock immedately when i slided my finger.
also had another problem where my sound was coming from the phone speaker rather [where u put ur ear to listen] rather than the regular speaker on the bottom
just strange and very annoying occurances ive noticed. i dont know if its the custom FW i created, or the fact i tried restoring with aptbackup that screwed me up. but it really sucks when a friend tries calling and gets no answer.
EDIT: Turns out it was an issue with aptbackup, i had custom ringtones installed from cydia, and they were re-linked thru aptbackup but the actual ringtones themselves were not restored. so when anyone with a custom ringtone from cydia that wasnt reinstalled called, the phone would only vibrate and would lock up for like 10 seconds into the ring.
still the sound thru earpiece speaker is unknown why it did that.

thanks for sharing your discovery that aptbackup is not compatible with FW 2.2.1
I think it would do a lot of people well to do a clean install of FW and yellowsn0w, then test if it works, BEFORE restoring from backup.
I generally setup as a new iPhone instead of restoring from backup, to avoid inheriting any problems in the backup, or in this case, to avoid installing applications that might be incompatible with the new Firmware.
Then I add back applications ONE at a time, and test if the iPhone continues to function normally..
my point being, I think people are having issues with incompatible applications when upgrading Firmware.
My 3G with FW 2.2 and yellowsn0w 9.6 works perfectly.
I did have a problem with BossPrefs, so I no longer use it. I lost the ability to turn on Bluetooth, and lost the icon for Settings on my springboard, after docking it in BossPrefs.. So I restored Firmware 2.2, unlocked with yellowsn0w 9.6, and did NOT restore from backup, instead setup as a NEW iPhone.. you get the idea I think..
