Same for me-
I jailbroke and installed yellowsn0w .9.4 following the iclarified instructions. I am using my stock sim (softbank) to test the unlock. I can find the carrier, but the signal strength randomly jumps from 1 bar to 5 bars every couple seconds. I can initiate a call, but the call fails because the signal is lost. The same with receiving a call. It gets dropped halfway through when the signal jumps from 3 bars to no bars. My phone is also auto-locking every 5 minutes even though the auto-lock is set to "Never"

Same result with 0.9.5, I can find the carrier no problem and get 5 bars. As soon as I initiate a call, the phone hangs on the calling screen and never initiates the outgoing call. After about 10-15 sec, the screen goes to "call failed". Receiving a call, the phone rings but will not answer the call. After it goes to voicemail, then the screen shows "call failed". The carrier is listed as Softbank and I have 3 to 5 bars during this whole operation. I cannot turn off 3G since Softbank only has a 3G network.
16 GB iphone (white)
Locked to Softbank, using original sim
Installed yellowsn0w with both Cydia and Installer. Same result. As soon as I uninstall YS, the phone works normally.

I will try the other two after dinner.

well.... I was able to get it to work briefly using the terminal r and c codes. But after a re-boot, I lost functionality. Now I cannot get the phone to replicate the unlock. Everything I try goes back to wildly fluctuating signal and the phone will not call out nor receive calls.

mobileterminal
right now the current version of yellowsn0w(ys for those that didn't figure it out right away, lol i didn't)seems to work best with mobileterminal, just have to mess around with it( see all the updates from deli_gt, jailbreak, yellowsn0w it, and if it doesn't work, restore, pwn(jailbreak), yellowsn0w, and follow deli_gt's updates, preferably to the T and maybe my post might help.

I am in Japan. Softbank is the locked carrier, like AT&T in the US. I am going to be traveling to the US this summer so I want to be able to switch out sims.
