    Default [FW 2.2] (Help!) Yellowsn0w 0.9.8 No-Service

    Hi,
I have an IPhone 3g 16GB (white) for about 2 months now. It was purchased in hungary and it is factory locked to the local T-Mobile carrier.
It was unlocked with Yellowsn0w and was working perfectly up until two days ago.

It was two days ago when i looked at the iphone and i saw No Service on the screen, i took the SIM out and re-inserted it and then the phone was working again but in the morning it went dead again.

    I have tried re-installing yellowsn0w - didn't work
reset network settings - didn't work
erase all content and settings - didn't work
full restore to 2.2, quickpwn - didn't work
i also tried all terminal commands regarding yellowsn0w + airplane mode toggle on and off and that also didn't work..

i even tried restoring the phone without unlocking it, then i used a T-Mobile SIM (the official carrier) and it is also not working..

Whenever i try to choose network manually i get the available network list but when i try to select one i get the message "limited network".

I have tried to sumbit a yellowsn0w repot on the Dev-Team blog but i get the 403 forbidden message.

Please help me if you encountered this problem.. i just don't know what to do.. i had a working iphone 2 days ago, i didn't install anything new.. and now i have this white block lying around gaining dust..

    thanks in advance

Just to be sure, could you please check your current baseband?

I have checked it and it is 02.28.00.

BTW: just used BBUpdaterExtreme to manually re-flash the baseband again in case it was corrupted and it is still the same. No Service.

Hmm, I just got No service today also!!!

I've been using ys since it's beginnings (new year), and am currently on 2.2.1 with BB 02.28.00. I have ys 0.9.8 since the day it was on cydia and it was working *perfectly* until today.

I tried to go in-out of airplane mode, but nothing.

I turned the phone off and on, and after reboot everything is working OK.

Is this a coincidence or should we be worried???

Why would one flash the baseband, what did you do?

I re-flashed the baseband with the same version (02.28.00) because i thought it might be corrupted. But it proved to be useless.

I did it with BBupdaterExtreme via terminal.. but nothing changed..

I Also tried activating the phone with an official carrier sim card without jailbreaking or unlocking, but the phone just hangs with the message:
"waiting for activation this may take some time"...

The iphone went from the "connect to iphone screen" to the home screen.. but i just had 5 empty bars..

Itunes seems to accept the SIM but the phone just won't get any signal..

If you are activating with an OFFICIAL carrier and it does not work then something could be wrong with the phone. Take it to Apple store or DFU restore the phone and try to activate again. I doubt that Apple activation server is down.

I have the same problem, my iPhone gives me 'no service' a couple of times dialy, and I have to reboot the phone when that happens.

But my case is little bit different; I originally bought the phone from Dubai, but couldn't get yellowsn0w to work, only to discover that there was a turbosim soldered inside the phone. I desoldered the turbosim and corrected the soldering of a disconnected pin and got the phone working on 2.2 and 2.28.00 and yellowsn0w 0.98 except for the fact that I get week signal (low bars) and no service a couple of times daily.

I used pwnage tool to get to 2.2.1 while keeping 2.28.00, and then installed yellowsn0w 0.98, but that did not fix the problem.

'flashing' before restoring was mentioned here (post#3) but I could not understand what it meant... anybody knows what is 'flashing' and what good would it do in this case?

Well, that might be the problem.
BBUpdaterExtreme does not work with the 3G , there is no way to downgrade your BB and I'm not sure that trying with this is what has completely buggered your BB.
It looks like a return to Apple might be your only option.
