    Default That EDGE signal

    Is there a way i can turn off my EDGE. i have no idea why it is turned on like that. any comments anyone?

    Some operators (like Vodafone Spain) offer EDGE 'over the air', without any adittional configration (without configuring the APN). It should be the reason, I think...

    Tools like bosspref & SBSettings will let you turn EDGE off.

    Try setting up your APN with bogus settings.

    Just read the other thread. I think I remember reading that when you disable Edge the Edge icon will stay, but you won't have edge. Although, the only way to find out would be to test it.

    that ain't workin either, unfortunately (bogus settings in edge menu).......
    turning edge off from bossprefs sends my iphone into airplane mode, only to come back again with the same blue spot in place...............
    Help!

    I would try to replicate your situation, but in Japan, we don't even have an edge option. It's 3G or nothing.

    According to this post (last year though) it says that the blue E will always be present, but when you try to access the internet, it won't work.
