I would expect that people are choosing Friday because tat's the release date for the 3GS and they can't be bothered to realize that one release date for a product != release date for all other products.
This is the same as how there are so many people who heard iPhone OS is GM, so Snow Leopard must be GM as well.
Some people are just idiots that way, and there's no way to get them to change, so just live with it, try your best to ignore them and every once in a while throw a snide comment or two in their direction.

MuscleNerd on Twitter stated they would probably wait to release pwnage and quickpwn for FW3.0 until the 3Gs was released on Friday and on the Dev Team Blog has stated "Nope not yet. But it seems we're in for a big week! Lots of changes by Friday." in reply to unlocking phones that can't be unlocked yet. Maybe he's one of the 'idiots' you are referring too?
