BossPrefs Add-On - yellowsn0w fix
I have turned the switches in yellowsn0w (0.9.5 and 0.9.6) into a simple on/off BossPrefs toggles.
Should help with "No Sim" messages or 128k sim cards.
You no longer need to use MobileTerminal or use Airplane mode.
You can do it all in BossPrefs using on/off toggles.
Obviously you need to have BossPrefs and yellowsn0w installed first.
Toggle Source:
Add the following source to Installer:
navco786.com/repo
Scroll down to the navco786 category and install:
"3 BossPrefs Add-ons" for yellowsn0w 0.9.5
and
"4 BossPrefs Add-ons" for yellowsn0w 0.9.6
Then run BossPrefs and you should see the Toggles.
yellowsn0w 0.9.5 Toggles:
yellowsn0w -r > Resets Baseband
yellowsn0w -s > Single Shot Mode
3G Unlock in 30s >
This toggle helps yellowsn0w run successfully after you reboot. In other words, you have yellowsn0w running successfully but after rebooting, you lose the unlock/signal again. Just toggle the add-on and the signal should return without any further user input.
yellowsn0w 0.9.6 Toggles:
yellowsn0w -s > Single Shot Mode
yellowsn0w -t > Do not perform STK refresh (alt method)
yellowsn0w -a > Airplane Mode
yellowsn0w -r > Resets Baseband

I didn't add the "yellowsn0w -c" option because I have looked at the code. All -c does is this:
extern char *BasebandVersion(void);
int CheckCompatibility(void) {
char *actual = BasebandVersion();
char *required = "02.28.00";
if (strcmp(actual, required)) {
fprintf(stderr, "ERROR! %s works only for baseband \"%s\", but this baseband is \"%s\"\n", whoami, required, actual);
return 0; // bad
} else {
return 1; // good
}
}
It has no effect on the unlock at all. It either gives an error or it exits successfully. Nothing else.

no longer needed.... v0.9.6 does all the work by itself.

This is just for those 5% of users who still cannot get yellowsn0w to work.
e.g. those that get "No Sim" messages or use 128k sim cards.

There are so many users who do not understand when should we using these switches in 0.9.6 like -r or -t or -s or -a. We can hee what they are for but can not figure out without bit help in what situation we should be toggeling these switches. I know 0.9.6 out of the box may not need any toggeling.

Switching from valid to non-valid sim
I have two sims that I use on my iPhone, one valid, and one that requires yellowsn0w. Can I turn off yellowsn0w when i use the valid one with ease? Does it make sense to do it?

it is not necessary to turn off yellowsn0w when using valid SIM
it is not necessary to do anything, just swap the SIM, you dont even need to turn the phone off..
however, the valid (ATT in USA) SIM will erase your Tmobile Cellular Data Network APN of epc.tmobile.com and you will have to re-enter it (if youre on Tmobile USA)
Also you must manually turn 3G off for Tmobile, and ON for ATT each time you swap SIMs. You should also enable Data Roaming, by hand, each time you swap..
but NO, you dont need to do anything to disable yellowsn0w when using the valid SIM, your "valid" carrier cant tell you have a yellowsn0w unlocked iPhone
