I currently have a first gen iPhone that was jailbroken via the appsnapp (jailbreakme.com) method way back when that came out. Have not updated since then (been waiting for 2.0)

Actually the only reason I jailbroke my first phone wasn't for third party apps, but to activate it because I have an AT&T plan through my company that I cannot change to the iPhone plan. I never needed to unlock or anything - it just worked on AT&T after the appsnapp was done.

My question is: What is the proper way to upgrade my phone to 2.0 with WinPwn if all I really want is to get the 2.0 firmware and have it activated for use on AT&T?

The reason I ask is because the tutorial on http://www.appleiphoneapps.com/2008/...-20-jailbreak/ says not to choose activate if you have AT&T because you will end up with no service, but I can't activate through iTunes because I don't have an iPhone plan. It seems like I should choose activate.

Anyone have the right answer for me before I continue?

Also, why would I not want to "enable baseband update" in advanced options? Wouldn't I want the latest baseband for the location features? Wouldn't the 2.0 update flash the baseband anyway?

if you are not legit customer with att then you shud choose the activation.
