hello people...

this is almost my 10th post on the same damn problem..but not able to get a clear solution...
i hav 1.1.4 fw..but recently used winpwn to jus change the custom logos. so for recovery mode, i changed the logo to LINUX DOLL..
now the problem is tat i can neither update my fw nor restore.....whatever i do it gets stuck in the recovery mode(KEEPS SHOWING THE LINUX DOLL)
everything works till recovery/restore mode...when i press SHIFT+restore to restore..it shows extracting software and shows "PREPARING iPhone for RESTORE" and gets stuck and throws up an error 16XX....

1)now the strange thing is that once i get into recovery mode...no matter what i press..i cant come back to normal mode....so i hav to use iLiberty to UNLOCK again to come to normal mode...its driving me crazy..have unlocked it several times for just to come out of restore mode...and YEAH there is an option in iLiberty to KICK OUT OF RECOVERY MODE..if i do so...it ll come to normal mode but if i restart my phone again it will automatically go into RECOVERY MODE again/..

2) i also tried gettin into DFU mode and retore it..same damn problem..goes into DFU mode but not able to update or restore and throws up some error msg....

3)so what is the last resort for me...??? i cant update at all..????

P.S : i built custom fw and tried restoring ..same damn problem.

What custom firmware did you build? 1.1.4 or 2.0.x ??

What firmware is on you phone now ?.

You need to put the phone in DFU mode, restore with apple original firmware that matches the one you have on the phone right now. Let see if that can get your phone to boot normally. (using the original firmware will get rid of pwnage)

If it can, we can proceed to the next step.

dtube is right, DFU will save you from a bad flash.

Try on another computer, perhaps?

first of al i m sorry for creating such chaos...actually this restoring thing driving me crazy....

P.S: as u said i can enter into DFU mode and also recovery mode..but never able to restore or update..it gets stuck saying that "PREPARING PHONE FOR RECOVERY" and neve moves...it tried al different guides to restore but no luck..

do you have cydia on your phone, if so tap on it and install bootneuter and then just flash and upgrade the baseband. it works flawlessly. i was stucked one time but that worked charm for me. so why not give it a shot.

Did you read his post carefully?
don't tell him to use bootneuter because he is no where close to that.

root cause for al these problems is iTunes....i created an another account in my comp and installed itunes..then i tried restoring...yuppeee..no errors got restored to original 1.1.4 and BB version is 04.04.05_G and unlocked using iLiberty..

* now my Bl is 3.9FB...is tat ok or should i hav to change to 4.6 using bootneuter>.????

* shall i go for 2.0.1..???? or wait for some more days..coz not al apps works on 2.0.2 i guess...

Glad it was that was a simple problem with iTunes. Thanks for your feedback. I guess we all learn something new everyday because the problem is not always obvious.

* You are OK with where you are at now. 3.9FB is perfectly OK. It does not really matter if you use iLiberty gunlock or using bootneuter and change it to 4.6.

If you want to keep the phone BL as the way it was shipped, you can use bootneuter to change it to 4.6, neuter=on, unlock=on, fakeblank=off. You need to set auto-lock = never when you use bootneuter and make sure you have BSD on the phone. You don't interrupt bootneuter when it is running. Just wait for it to finish. From now on, bootneuter is the de-facto standard for unlocking for 2G iphone.

* I say wait a little more because winpwn 2.5 will be out and you will be able to go to 2.0.2 in one shot. Save some time. Apps for 2.x is more & more each day, there's many apps ... If you stick with 1.1.4, you are not going to see anymore new apps for it.
