This is all speculation, but what's great about QuickPWN is that it allows you to update in iTunes first, allowing you to keep all settings and App Store apps intact.

I see that the WinPWN will incorporate QuickPWN, but what advantages could be gained for those already jailbroken/unlocked/PWNed at 2.0.1 by using the new version of this tool? Shouldn't QuickPWN (GUI) be enough?

I believe that the difference is as follows: If you use QuickPwn and the new firmware updates the baseband, your baseband will be updated. If the baseband is updated, there may be less of a chance that you will be able to unlock the phone (if exploits have been closed in later basebands). There may always be a way to downgrade the baseband, but I'm not sure. If you use WinPwn and update with custom firmware, then the baseband will not be updated. Therefore, you will keep your original baseband version. If you will never need to unlock or if you have a phone that was unlocked by Apple, then you can use QuickPwn from now on!

Well, that makes sense. What I didn't realize was that WinPWN does not upgrade the baseband. I'll have to check before and after using WinPWN 2.5 when it's released. Are there any potential conflicts that could arise by having baseband/OS mismatch? Is the reason for Apple updating the baseband simply to combat all these methods of unlocking it? Or, do they actually help with improving the phone's interface with the mobile network?

There should not be any problems (i.e., freezing or bricking the phone) due to the mismatch. I have asked that same question regarding the baseband here: http://hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=50110 , but I have not received a response yet. It could be true that by using WinPwn and not upgrading the baseband, we are not benefitting from improved communications algorithms in newer basebands. That is, if such communications/reception algorithms/code is maintained in the baseband. I'm not sure of that. So by looking to unlock and maintaining the older baseband, we may be losing out in terms of obtaining better signal that may be achieved through newer and optimized basebands. Again, I'm not sure if this is true, because I have not received a response to my question. I would rather have a better signal right now since I am an AT&T customer. I can always buy an officially unlocked phone or use my first generation iPhone if I need to use an unlockd phone in another country.

    Cheers!
