Try clearing you cache as first point.

Firefox has really bad cacheing issues.

Tools --> Options --> Privacy --> Clear Private data.

IE if you your on a broadband connection

Tools --> Internet options --> General --> Settings

Reduce ur cache size to 8mb, and set check for newer versions to "every time i visit a page".

Clear Tempory internet files after setting this

Safari on pc can be a tad slow, but physically sound, unless it corrupts IE's integration with Java when installing.

"Never! Update java on a pc through safari heed my warning on this"

    Edit --> Empty Cache
Thanks, but I found an alternative link: http://www.iphone-hacks.com/download.php?id=140
It downloaded in 25 seconds (so it might not be a browser issue).

The MD5 sum is 90907dcce31e9408489c717d9a491fe9, which is correct. EDIT: this is the checksum of the zip file winpwn-2.5-BETA_2_Setup.zip (in case anyone needs to check)

Installing Cydia programs on a phone that has no internet connection: read this.

Editing binary .plist, .strings, .nib and .xib files:
    * on your computer: Windows tool / conversion website.
    * on your iPhone: convert those files in a terminal with plutil (installed with Erica Utilities) or edit them with iFile (Cydia links).

    Unhappy

I have a really strange problem, I downloaded Winpwn 2.5. Beta, installed it.
Also downloaded the restore file iPhone1,1_2.0.2_5C1_Restore from the apple homepage plus the Bootloader Images 3.9 and 4.6.

Started Winpwn and everything runs smooth until the point Searching for the ipsw restore file.
So I open the folder were iPhone1,1_2.0.2_5C1_Restore is in, but then Winpwn gives me an error message: The file iPhone1,1_2.0.2_5C1_Restore.ipsw has an invalid hash. Do you want to search for another file.

    There is no other file...???

I have no idea what it wants of me, I mean i tried it over and over again, but always the same result.
And if I hit No to not search for another file, it just ends Winpwn....

    Any Ideas?

Sounds like the file is corrupted. Try downloading it again, or check the hash manually (this page says the MD5 sum is supposed to be 221667020d3eace24153ceb634b2f8bb, that's also what I get, and you can search the internet for methods to check a file on your system).

    Hi,

I have a winpwn 2.5 pwned phone. Somehow my phone got stuck on apple logo screen. So i tried restoring to Custom firmware using Itunes.
I get an error in Itunes "Unknow error has occured". Some error 1602.
Do i need to use winpwn to pwn the phone again??

Did you sucessfully launch your phone in DFU mode, its a little tricky to do sometimes, I prefer the more brutal method of holding the home and power button down. It seems to be a little easier to time.

Your pc should recognise the DFU Driver connected, your iphones screen should be black but connected until update is started. Not showing the normal restore icon.

If you ask any apple representative they will say restoring ur phone under DFU mode dramatically effects the iphones performance. Dont believe the hype theyre just rumour mongering.

Beta 1 I had an issue where it created an image but did not pwn my phone which I thought it was supposed to without using itunes. Maybe im wrong but I basically just picked up the custom image, shift + restore in itunes worked fine.

I installed beta 2 but didnt bother pwning my phone again as it already worked. When winpwn asks do u wish to erase all data do so, but the restore will take a little longer, I generally backup my contacts using google so it doesnt bother me wiping anything out.

Yes i did as pointed out by many guides to enter dfu mode. I did a restore to Apple firmware 2.0.2 through itunes now and then tried doing shift+restore in DFU mode but i am getting Itunes error 1602.

    Should i use winpwn again?
