Error 6 and also 9, from what i read is because ur phone isnt in proper DFU.
Its not exactly 10 seconds. Screw that.
Connect ur phone to ur computer.
Turn the speaker on.
Press Home and Sleep Until the Screen goes black.
Listen for the sound. After there is a disconnected sound keep holding both buttons for another 2.5 to 3 seconds and leave the sleep wake button but hold the home.
After a few seconds, you should get a device connected sound while the iPhone screen is black.
Also, make sure the drivers are installed correctly.
Two drivers needed, one for the DFU and one for the iBoot (I think recovery mode)
If this doesn't work. Try a different computer.
Also make sure iTunes is pwned.
Are the cables ok?
does this error occur during "preparing iPhone for restore"?
-
-
Yeah, the cables are good.
But when the Winpwn 2.5 is done, on the screen there is a Like Gear thingy *custom logo and then i just open itunes and do the restore.
What does it mean to have itunes pwned?
Maybe thats the problem

I would like to be doing it on beginner mode but since it does not work I have to ask:
Do I want to wipe data?

Can I use iliberty+ to get the iPhone in the DFU mode, while working with WinPwn?

no, you can't. that would seem to be the easy way out, but only manual dfu works.
getting into dfu mode is easy.. i don't understand why so many ppl have problems. try big boss' guide.. it works 100% of the time if you follow it to the dot.

what i don't understand with this version of winpwn is why you have to set the root partition to 700mb this time in order for it to work. screw the expert restore method. i think i'm just gonna update to 2.0.2 through itunes and quickpwn it instead since the baseband wasn't changed.

-Hold On/Off button and Home/wake button for 10 seconds
-Release the On/Off button but keep pressing the Home button
-Wait until itunes detects the phone
-The screen is always black.
But then when its restoring with the custom firmware, somewhere i always get a "An unknown error has occured while restoring, error *6*
I tried it on Vista/XP system. I have an imac which i will try to use if this last attempt doesnt work.
I even renamed the Custom-Iphone-2.0.2.ispw file to iPhone-2.0.2.ispw
Might have been the problem. Apparently not.
I lurked all over the forums for an answer but nothing to specific to my issue.
Also i noticed in the log this
I am really desperate now help.
while your putting the settings you want winpwn 2.5 shows you how to do it and has a timer much like quickpwn.. hold on/off for 10 seconds then while still holding it hold the home also, then after 10 seconds let go of on/off and the screen will go white and after 20 or so seconds winpwn says it was successfull and on your iphone screen you will see a pic saying iphone ready and in winpwn saying successfully done iphone is ready for upgrade or something like that but it takes you step by step through it incase you dont know how to do it

Use the new Winpwn 2.5 to upgrade FW1.1.3 to FW2.0.2
I just used Winpwn 2.5 to upgrade my iPhone FW1.1.3 to FW2.0.2. I used the expert mode. Everything went well except to put iPhone in DFU mode...but I tried a few times and it worked

I just pwned and restored my phone with a custom IPSW made in Winpwn 2.5 and successfully got installer and cydia on the phone.
When I then went to restore my backup, it took forever, rebooted, and then I got the spinning ring of death.
Any ideas?
