I am having troubles with winpwn 2.5 i create the custom firmware but and i am getting ready to restore it in itunes but then i get this error message
"An unkown error has occured cannot restore error (6)"
How do i fix this? Or what am i doing wrong?
this works cure for crashing !
on XP 2.0.2 2g Iphone
If your crashing out use expert mode and set the root to 800mb end of problem
In for o2 in UK dont select the affiliated service provider (ie AT&T)
I think you're not in proper DFU mode. Check this out: [winpwn 184.108.40.206] DFU success + DFU instruction

I can confirm that expert mode works for me, where basic mode did not. I didn't change any settings (I left the partition size at 700), but for some reason it worked better on expert....
After everything was done I hit "restore from backup of Alex's iPhone" instead of "set up as new phone", thinking that I would be getting all my music re-syned. CRAP.
Now I need to spend another hour re-Pwning the entire thing.
At least I know how to do it --finally.
Do you have to set it up as a new phone, how do u get ur sms backd up?
Custom FW location
In case your using the Easy mode the Custom firmware gets saved in My Documents
my Mail icon crash back to home page everytimes i click on it.
Before upgrading you can back them upto your PC, it's sms.db in

Hello guys, i have been busting my butt of since this morning 9:51am precisely to unlock my iphone. I have tried almost all the solutions possible. After i am done creating the custom ispw file, i set the iphone in DFU mode
-Hold On/Off button and Home/wake button for 10 seconds
-Release the On/Off button but keep pressing the Home button
-Wait until itunes detects the phone
-The screen is always black.
But then when its restoring with the custom firmware, somewhere i always get a "An unknown error has occured while restoring, error *6*
I tried it on Vista/XP system. I have an imac which i will try to use if this last attempt doesnt work.
I even renamed the Custom-Iphone-2.0.2.ispw file to iPhone-2.0.2.ispw
Might have been the problem. Apparently not.
I lurked all over the forums for an answer but nothing to specific to my issue.
Also i noticed in the log this
I am really desperate now help.
Rebuilding Root FileSystem (This will take a while)
