I am confident that I entered DFU mode completely.
It appeared the black screen. I tried so many times.
Wouldn't it be a bug in Winpwn 2.0.0.4?

same here.. i am confident i got it into DFU mode but won't work keep getting error 6

Works for me
WinPwn 2.0.0.4 worked fine on my previously pwned 2G iPhone. I also got both installer and cydia in my custom firmware. Here's what I did:
1. Choose Browse.ipsw and pick the official 2.0.1 firmware from Apple
2. Click on IPSW Builder
3. Select the options you want (in my case, I selected youtube fix, installer, cydia, and also the options to unlock my baseband since I'm not on an official carrier.
4. **I changed the partition size from 500MB to 1000MB**
5. Then i built my IPSW
6. Click on iPwner and select your newly built custom 2.0.1 firmware to pwn iTunes.
7. Open iTunes and put your phone in DFU mode
8. When iTunes detects your phone in recovery mode, click Shift-Restore then select your new custom firmware.
That's it. Restoring took a while, but I just left it, and then I had both Cydia and Installer on my phone. I'm restoring from backup as I speak.
NOTE: Building my custom IPSW with BOTH Cydia and Installer did not work until I tried changing the partition size from 500 MB to 1000 MB,

However, after the upgrade and restore the backup opening the mail application just quits to home screen. Not sure if it's about the data restore. So I'm doing the customized fw restore the second time and set it up as a new iphone to see what happens.
I did it the second time and it also finished without errors. The mail is ok now. So you better set it up as a new iphone.

i've read that you must upgrade to 2.0 before 2.0.1. Anyone know if this true even with winpwn 2.0.0.4? Thanks!

Nope not for me.
Followed Nabz34 instructions including raizing the partition size and was able to build IPSW with Cydia & Installer
but still error 6 on Shift-Click restore.
FYI got a Custom-iPhone1,1_2.0.1_5B108_Restore of size 251,746,058 on a VISTA32 machine (also picked options autoremove bootneuter).
Can restore 2.0.0 custom fine.
Will wait now til this bug is fixed....

anyone know whats going on?
i think this is issue if you install all apps and partition becomes to small... when i increased root parition on 512MB (from 500) everything worked fine, you will also get warning about low disk space when you will upgrade cydia for 1st time, but dont worry, since next start of cydia will move apps/ringtones to media parition and it will free some space + you can after use bosstool to move fonts also and you will get another 100mb+ of space on root parition
