i also got itunes to restore from backup without any errors, so i DIDN'T lose any of my contacts, sms messages, photos, wifi settings, etc. i DID need to re-sync all my songs though but that's expected with a restore. i thoroughly tested my phone after i did the backup restore and my mail app didn't crash and itunes also never asked me to restore from backups/setup as a new phone a 2nd time. i did a burn test which basically consisted of turning on and off the phone several times, connected and disconnected on itunes, restarted computer and connected and disconnected again. tested wifi, locate me and it all works perfectly.

maybe i'm one of the lucky few? or maybe i just did everything correctly =P

At last i made it. my custom ipsw is using 2gb of partition size with no problem on 8gb iphone. although it require more time to install on my iphone.

Heres what happened.....the first install try i got error6...because all i tryed to install the first time was installer and the youtube fix. I then tryed again, still thinking i was in DFU but my phone was not in DFU...it was showing the ituneslogo/usb cable..After i figured that out it was easy to put into DFU. But I was still getting error6..I than selected to install installer cydia and the youtube fix and YAY!!! no errors. Worked great after that..so far 2.0.1 has been great.

It went all sooo smothly, the first time... no errors!!!! it was the best!!!.. i have now 2.0.1 running perfect, tried everything... internet, youtube, mail, calls, everything!!!..

Yeah, i think that is the one... is the one, i got from the website of WinPwn... but i think that sounds about right...

Oh i was so, terrified yesterday, about all the errors that appeared on other people... and the DFU mode, but it all went very smoothly... not one error... im very happy with my firmware... all is working perfectly, youtube, mail, internet, calls, app store, cydia, etc.

Just make sure of some things...

1.- That you got the right firmware for you iphone/ipod touch.
2.- That you resize the root partition to 550 mb
3.- Do exactly as the steps tell you in the DFU mode (i watched a clock for the 10 seconds. to be more precise).
4.- when restoring... be patient, it will take a while.
5.- Recommend setting up as a new phone, and start re-syncing everything again, just to make sure.
