Yes..thats the DFU mode as well...because even in DFU mode..thats how your screen looks like....

Well if thats the DFU moden then im Still getting ERROR 1604

DFU mode doesn't show itunes connection, DFU mode that you need to use so that you don't get 16xx errors is the Black screen...but computer will tell u at the bottom that you are in DFU mode... Go to youtube and type get into dfu mode iphone....there are a lot of videos showing exactly what it should look like.

So after lots and lots of hours frustration i found a way!!!

u all know how to create your custom firmaware?!
well i had the problem once i tried to upload it to my ipot o got error 16XX by itunes till i figured

itunes does NOT accept this file>
Custom-iPod1,1_2.0_5A347_Restore

istead rename it to just plane
iPod1,1_2.0_5A347_Restore
and it installd it without anny errors !!!!!!

i used Vista Ultimate 64bit Itunes64 "7.7.0.43"
And my Ipod Firmware was 2.0 original!!

first a had 1.4 Jailbrak Firmware installt but i could not get into DFU from there since my ipod kept restarting into recovery once in itunes!!

Any1 having problems installing the Custom FW 2.0 or wants to go back to 1.1.4 FW. REMEMBER! to put the iphone in DFU mode. IF the screen shows up as iTunes icon and the usb cable, you haven't dont it right!

If you're using Windows if you follow dTube's instruction correct NOTICE the BOLD Highlighted section. You'll notice on the bottom right hand corner of your screen will say "DFU Mode". ONLY at that point you have done it correctly.

Thanks again dTube and Vision for helping me get the Custom 2.0 Fw working. =)

FYI: 1 last thing i want to remind you, once you have the 2.0 FW on the iphone edge is ALWAY on; edge cannot be disable it like it was with the 1.xx Fw's. You need to goto http://www.unlockit.co.nz/ and be sure you're using WiFi to do this method or you'll be racking up to 2MB's of Data fee for doing this method alone.

Install bossprefs via cydia, you can flip edge on/off.

I have been trying to get into DFU mode for a few days now, without success. Could someone show me "where does the computer says that you're in DFU mode"? Exactly where, please... Are you talking lower right of the Itunes window (because I only see an "eye" and an eject button). Is there a status bar of some sort that I'm missing here?. Could someone post a picture of the computer showing DFU mode?

that DFU message you may or may not see. That appears when the computer detect the phone with that windows sounds (similar to when you plug in a usb device). So you may or may not see it.

When the phone is in DFU mode, the phone screen is black. On the computer, itunes will show detect iphone in recovery mode. This itunes appearance is the same with DFU or Recovery mode. The main thing is your phone screen has to be black. In recovery mode (non-dfu), the phone screen has the usb cable + cd.

I would like to say thanks dtube. it works. DFU mode is different from recovery mode. I did not know the difference until now.
