it will LOSE the jailbreak, but remain unlocked and activated.
run the quickpwn process (using the stock 2.0.1 FW)
your 2.0.2 phone will now be activated, unlocked, and jailbroken, with BOTH cydia and installer.
hi,
is this also true for updating from 2.0 to 2.0.1? Or is it only for 2.0.1?

Experience report.
Hello.
I have an 1.1.2 OTB that was 1.1.4 iLiberty unlocked and 2.0.0 pwned. I was getting errors getting 2.0.1 pwned.
So, I updated (not retored, updated) to 2.0.1 with iTunes. Phone was unlocked, activated, jailed.
So I used the QuickPwn with GUI to pwn/jailbreak it. It was sucessful, the on-screen instructions were clear (but I did follow BigBoss recommendation of not closing iTunes) about getting into DFU mode, all was well and ok. The only missing part is that, after the reboot, the phone was jailbroken but the process didn't finish. I ctrl+c it, some messages showed but I was unable to read them. I believe I have it working, but what/when was it supposed to finish?
Best regards,
Leo.

But, from 1.1.4 to 2.0.1...
But, I have a question. If I get from 1.1.4 iLiberty unlocked to 2.0.1 with updates, will I lose the unlock/activation status? Has anyone tried? So we then can use QuickPwn to jailbreak.
Thanks!
Leo

Why would you want to restore, is something wrong with your iPhone?
Restoring will just lock your iPhone unless on an official contract.
Update it!!!!!! jailbreak will just be gone but unlock will remain as the baseband is still the same as 2.0 and 2.0.1.
As long as the baseband remains the same in future updates, it will always be safe to update 1st gen iPhones.
Hope Apple have given up fighting the Devs.

I'm on 2.0.2 and want to jailbreak, not jailbroke since 1.1.4.
Did you use QuickPwnGui?? because I don't think Installer is on Quickpwn.
Do the boot and recovery images remain Apple stock or do you get the pineapple and Jobs as the recovery pictures?? I really don't want the pineapple or S.Jobs.

I just updated with i-tunes to 2.0.2 and did the jailbrake finally (first i used the "normal" Quickpwn) with the QuickpwnGui to have Cydia AND Installer as discribed by ql25.
All went perfect, including wifi and youtube, a minor problem remained with the pinapple and steve logos...
I hope, to find a solution for that

In the case there is something wrong with my iphone I'll prefer a restore instead of the usual update. actually i trust more a restore than an update, i don't care about itunes backup i never trust them i manually backup my address book, calendar, notes, etc via SSH.
it's being proven that in the long run whenever you are moving from one FW to the next it's better to do a restore than an update.
i'm also aware that the unlock will remain since the baseband is not updated on this version, i just wanted to know if quickPwn worked on a restore instead of and update and now i know because i did the test.

read the guide, it's all explained there, you can use custom logos or you can leave it with the stock.
both installer and cydia are included
