My iPhone has been pwned with winpwn 2.5 and is running the 2.0.2 sofware.
I know that the modem firmware on the G2 iPhones new 2.1 software remained the same 04.05.04_G. And on the G3 iPhone the modem firmware for the new 2.1 software is 02.11.07_G.
I'll I want to know is if you have a G2 iPhone that has pwned can you just upgrade thru iTunes to the new 2.1 software?

Hi, there are several people that have just upgrade their iPhone to 2.1 using the original ispw from apple with iTunes 8 and the iPhone stays unlocked and I believe that stays activated as well (I'm not sure about this). There are several threads regarding this topic.

Yes.... I have also found people on this forum and other forums that have downloaded the original 2.1 ispw from apple and the using iTunes 8 hit shift+restore not upgrade and pointed to the original 2.1 software and installed with the iphone remained UNLOCKED.Quote:

As long as you start from a winpwned unlocked phone on a 2.x fw you can upgrade the phone to the latest 2.1 and still remain activated & unlocked afterwards
Just remember it wipes out the jailbreak making you lose 3rd part applications like Cydia / Installer

I didn't have cydia or installer appss. on my iPhone prior to upgarding. Prefer Apple Apps. instead.
