Default Is it me or Cydia is 2.0 is in bad shape

I have had this bad experience with cydia.

I think it's really hosed, first I tried it yesterday, it said it had 4-critical updates (Saurik .. get your head out of MSFT hole) ..

I naively let it update and it HUNG .. won't come out of it, home won't work even power switch was disabled.

I was just coming off from unlocking 2.0 so I hit it with a sledgehammer and restored the phone.

Now I looked at it again, Cydia is still awful, in some scerens it doesn't honor home button. Only way to get out of it is to power cycle -- a totally useless piece of software.

Installer was so nice but this one, it appears to me, is in bad shape.

I am only including this post in winpwn -- because winpwn uses it as the default installer.

Sad thing I see is the list of things Cydia installs by default .. ruby -- libgcc, nano etc. etc. -- other crap crap crap that 99.99999999999999999% of the users will never use or need.

Am I the only one who is seeing this?

Does 2.0.0.3 make it any better, please provide some insight.

I use Cydia and it's fine with me. I may experience some bugs, but on the next upgrades, I don't notice it anymore.

I think Saurik has made a great package management sytem based on Debian APT. He only needs someone to polish it. But the current state is fine with me.

Why are you complaining ? if you think Cydia is in a bad shape go fix it, the project is open source.

    Useless ?
I think if you're just complaining and demanding for "easy to use" apps, do not jailbreak your iPhone, and use App Store, or stick with 1.1.4 with Installer.

    Why such tone?

In my view it's useless to load tools on to your phone if you are never going to need/use it.

Regarding the tone go fix it youself ... get a life, pointing out something is not working or can be improved is not counterproductive -- but yelling at anyone how does probably is.

Chill out ppl! This is a discussion forum. Nobody's yelling!
new1phone - you just critisized a software which
mnemonic_fx - thought was quite good!

Hope this helps settle things down!

PS: oh...and new1phone - it works well for me too - even though it bugs sometimes! But anyway....it's 2.0 - even the firmware itself is slower and more sluggish!

Don't say that .... you may need it down the road for something . I use it everyday ...
It's different so it will take some times to get used to.
Installer 4 will be out soon so that should make you happy.
Go to rip dev and check out the status.

    Works fine for me.
first it was a bit sluggish and I had to force the phone to reboot because it hung during a critical update, but hey it does say on the start screen it is buggish....
Since the cydia update it works fine, no hangers, pretty quick and more apps/fixes are appearing daily....I think patience is the word

new1phone: restore your phone with a custom ipsw without Cydia inside and wait for another 3rd party software installer.

Nobody forces you to use Cydia.

    I'm very satisfied with it.

PS: your thread is in the wrong section > should have been in Native Software.

I never like Cydia too, cause i don't even know how to use it. Can't find bosspref to disable SSH, so i repwn without Cydia. Now the million dollar question : will the battery life get better without Cydia/SSH???

Forgot to mention that after I repwn without Cydia, now the sluggish/lagging behaviour in Contacts and iPod are all gone. My iPhone is like a well oiled new engine now. Can anyone explain this???
