Default [iTunes] Error (6) - Can't restore any custom *.ipsw. SOLVED

Ok, you might think "not again such a lamer, not beeing able to use the search" but i got a damned problem here. I tried to update to 2.0.1 using a pre-pwned phone using 2.0 as i haven't been able to connect to any WiFi networks. Sadly the problem still occoured there too, so i wanted do make a complete restore instead of an update, but now i stuck with the "Error (6)" problem.

You're maybe thinking about putting the phone into DFU-Mode now, but thats actually a thing i'm not able to test, as my I/O button is broken...

Is anyone willing to help me? Thanks in advance!

Btw, restoring to legit *.ipsws works fine..

Oh, and i also tried "downgrading" Apple Mobile Device Support and iTunes to 7.6 and restore to 1.1.4 and use zIphone (god beware) to get into the DFU mode, but somehow it can't install the driver then if the 2.0 FW is in restore mode (done with zIphone too, DFU doesn't work..i think caused by differences in iBoot)... So all i get can is Error 6 when trying a custom firmware and Error 20/Not connected with anything less then 2.0...

Anyone having an idea? Sorry for doublepost, but i'm feeling kinda lost without my phone..

How'd you manage to break the power button?? Or did I read wrong?

The way I've solved this is by connection the iPhone, no downgrades of any kind necessary, then held down the power button and home button to reboot - but rather than let it reboot you release the power button and hold down the home button until iTunes detects it in restore mode - it should then proceed to install any custom firmware you desire... but if your power button is busted, it may take a few tries...

fisrt of all, feel sorry for that i/o button have broken. You stated that restore to any legit filmware work just fine? right? so right now. whatever you do, then you'll stuck with 2.0.1 iphone. Since the i/o button broken you can't go any farther because put your phone in DFU mode will alow you get back to (or downgrade to) filmware 2.0. At this point, you'll need to wait for dev team to realese their new pwntool to jailbreak your iphone 2.0.1 .

Same problem (except for the button), this worked for me:

This is what I used, not sure if any of the versions matter, only thing you do need is WinPwn 2.0.0.3:

    - iTunes 7.7
    - Windows XP SP3
    - Winpwn 2.0.0.3
    - original Apple 2.0.0 firmware (maybe not needed?)
    - custom 2.0.0 firmware

This is what I did in winpwn 2.0.0.3:
    - browse ipsw (original firmware, dunno if this step is neccessary BTW)
    - iPwner (custom firmware, this step will own iTunes so it'll accept your firmware I think)
    - restoren in recovery or restoren in DFU mode (forgot which one, think it was restore mode)

The screen stayed black for a while but eventually turned white (this was after I selected Debug Output, dont know if thats a coincidence). After a minute of 2 the pineapple logo was back

At least we're the funny guys with working iPhones

You could try what I wrote earlier:
    - restore in recovery or restore in DFU mode (forgot which one, think it was recovery mode)

I think all Winown does is patch Itunes so it'll accept custom firmwares to be loaded?
