and when u reinstall itunes do you delete it completely from your system

like the itunes music folder in "my documents/my music/"
and the "apple computer" in \\documents and settings\USERNAME\Applications data\applecomputer
(enable hidden files and folders first)

after you have deleted the above reinstall itunes 7.5 and restore to 1.1.4 ..
    hope this helps
    good luck
iphone 2g at 3.0 using unofficial sim

Are you using stock or custom firmware?
If you are using stock firmware, well, let me tell you that you got serious problems, I got an iPhone that gives error 1601 when restoring to 2.x and 1011 when restoring to 1.1.x, that iPhone got a corrupted BL.
But, if you are using a custom firmware, then, the iPhone is not pwned, try using pwnage tool again.

I had the same problem several times. There is ONE way to resolve this. It always worked on all iphones which where stuck at the apple logo or were in recovery mode (cable logo)
You should download and install winpwn 2.5 beta

    http://hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=50833

You will use this software only to get into real DFU mode.

So you need a 2.02 original firmware and 3.9 and 4.6 bootloader files (you can find them through iclarified or google). Then you run the program and build a custom 2.02 firmware (which you will not use afterwards). Once the custom software is build you get very detailed instructions to get into DFU mode. Follow those instructions (be sure the iphone is connected through USB but turned off before you begin). Once you are in the DFU mode iTunes will show up with an iphone in "recovery mode". Then you should restore to a custom 2.1 build firmware. You will not have any 1600 errors !!!

Got a 3g, running 8.0.2.20 itunes. Phone was not jailbroken when I got it. Was purchased new 10.1.2008. Phone was fully functional as an ipod touch when I got it. I started to jailbreak it using PWN (2.0.0.4).

Created a "Custom ispw 2.0.1 file succesfully. Was never able to get the phone into a DFU mode and only to a restore mode. The only thing I can display on the phone now is the recovery mode symbol of itunes and the USB cord.

I've got Ziphone, Pwnage and a successful PWN file. Can't get phone into the DFU mode to install the "Custom File".

I've read for hours here looking for help and didn't want to start A NEW THREAD so I'm hoping somebody see this...

    1. Make normal Apple 2.2 FW restore.
    2. Then QuickPwn 2.2
then two options to get it unlocked
    a. Cydia & bootneuter (neuter&unlock and rebember to put sleep setting to NEVER and don't touch until both flashes are done !)
    b. Normal restore with Pwnaged 2.2 custom FW - now it doesn't give ERROR 1600 due already pwned iPhone.

I have the same problem. I'm in DFU mode and no matter what I do I get error 1601.

Maybe it is because this phone was dropped in the toilet. But I still have hope for it.

as long as its not error 1011 your iphone is not bricked.

try DFU mode again and try restoring to lower firmware
