IPhone problems - I cant get rid of steve jobs
Hi all. I decided that I must have the 2.0.2 upgrade from 1.1.4, and I am now lost, and all I can get on my phone is a picture of steve jobs saying something in russian. I cant restore, and I searched the forums - nothing worked.
Please help!

Your iPhone is in recovery/restore mode. Used to be the USB cable with iTunes logos, after pwnage this symbol for the iPhone beeing in recovery/restore mode changed to Steve.
Can you Shift-restore (Windows) Option-restore (Mac) to a custom 2.0.1 firmware? You have to built it before with Winpwn. Once you are unlocked at 2.0.1 you can go ahead for 2.0.2 if you have to.

Thanks so much for the quick reply. I will try that and see what I can do. If I cannot shift-restore, what next? Thanks and please let me know.

Try to restore to Apple firmware 2.0.2, then use custom firmware 2.0.1 (made with Winpwn) and restore to that one.

k, so I built the custom firmware, then try to restore in itunes to 2.0.1, it prepares the iphone for restore, then prepares the 'iphone software' for restore. Then I get an error message '6' from itunes.

What did you use for partition size?
If you used 500 try another custom build with 550mb

I actually made it 800mb. I will try 550 and see if that works, and yes, I have tried changing the USB port also

800mb normally works fine... What guide are you following?
Have you restored to 2.0.2fw like volks suggested and if so have you lost the pineapple / steve logo

Yes, Steve Jobs is finally gone, and I got the phone to boot up, so basically, I created the custom firmware, and I put the phone into the mode where I see the USB cable and itunes logo. Winpwn just sits there after, so I click on iPwnr, and it says that itunes was pwnd, and thats it.
Basically, the phone is stuck in recovery mode. I am going to restore to 2.0.2 again to get the phone back to normal, then try winpwn after getting the phone into dfu mode, correct?
EDIT: OK, I am finally up and running. Now, could you point me in the right direction for updating to the newest firmware? iTunes will not let me restore my backup (contacts, music, etc...). It says "The backup "My iPhone" cannot be restored to this iPhone because the software on the iPhone is too old."
Thanks!

What's is on the phone now? 2.0.1 or 2.0.2 ? I'm lost reading your post when you say it's up and running now.
- when you use winpwn to create custom firmware 2.0.1. After the custom firmware is created, you click on ipwner and select the custom firmware you just created. It will say itunes was pwned.
- you now restore the iphone with the custom firmware 2.0.1.
- when you are done, your phone will be running 2.0.1
- now you plug iphone, use itunes to update to 2.0.2, you will loose the jailbreak after the update. Your phone is now running 2.0.2 not jailbroken
- now you use QuickPwnGUI and select 2.0.2 firmware you downloaded
- follow the instruction, when you are done, you phone will be 2.0.2 jailbroken.
