[Help] New iPhone, I have no idea what to do.
Ok, my unlocked * GB 1.1.2 died, so I went to apple store today, and NO questions asked they gave me a NEW 8 gig today!
Problem is,.. so much has changed, I am confused, so if anyone can help, I would appreciate it.
First, I have no idea of firmware, and dialing the *300 etc. doesn't bring up versions? So.. my serial starts with 5k835 Does that tell me what firmware I have? I can't find anything with google.
Ok, after that what is my best choice for unlocking? I DON'T have any AT&T Sim card, just the carrier I had used with my previous Iphone ( cincinnati bell).. and that card was LOCKED on my last Iphone before It died.... So I just wanted to throw that out there in case that is going to cause a problem....
Pretty much, I just need to figure out what firmware I have, and what program to start with ( I have Itunes 7.5, I am guessing I need to go to 8?? )
Any help would be great. I keep getting stuck beccause I can't find out what firmware I have... and then, I have no clue what firmware to go to??? Or can I just keep what I have and perform an unlock??? Any help??
Thanks!

well firstly i would upgrade to itunes 8 then upgrade your firmware to 2.1 then with quickpwn unlock and jailbreak your new firmware..
also just tap settings general and about it shows you all info like what firmware you have and other info you might find handy..
ive never used 1.1.2 my first firmware was 1.1.4 but i am sure you will find many changes from 1.1.2 and you will like it.
www.iclarified.com have some good tutorials for quickpwn ( not that you need them its so easy to use ) but from there you can download the files you need to unlock and jailbreak such as the .bin files if you dont already have them a link to quickpwn and 2.1 firmware if needed
