I used iPwner and then i used IPSW Builder to create custom firmware file but when i go to itunes it tells me to activate first. So how can i restore the custom file without going through activation procedure in itunes.

Put the phone in restore mode. Hold Shift and select Restore in iTunes. Navigate to your custom ipsw.

the problem is that when i go to itunes it tells me to activate the phone first. so i can't access Restore button on iTunes unless i activate it.

Shut the phone off. Hold the Home button and connect the phone to the dock. Keep holding the Home button until you see a CD icon on your phone and iTunes has recognized the phone. In iTunes you'll see a restore button. Hold Shift on your computer keyboard and select Restore in iTunes. Navigate to the directory of your custom ipsw and select it. ITunes should then restore the firmware to your phone.

I had the same problem. Manually put your iphone in restore mode, which you probably know, = Hold down power+home.
Wait until the phone restarts, and wen the apple logo appears, let go of the power button on top. lol idk just making sure your know. Itunes should then let you either restore or check for updates.

i Hav iphone 8gb when i m create new custom file with winpwn but it's not working properly after created the ipsw file it shows 'unknown file' error plz tell me wht can i do

Hi.. A few questions

When does this error happen ? when you use the custom fw in itunes or when you are creating it with winpwn

What version of itunes are you using?

What firmware are you trying to install?
