dtube: Don't you think I tried to put it to DFU mode? Read my 1st post, there's mention of DFU mode all over it...

    you wanted help.
    I gave you help.
many people thought they have it in DFU but in fact they did not.
Restore you phone with Apple stock 2.0 fw. When done. Put in DFU mode and restore with custom fw.

If you don't need help ... fine with me.

Same nightmare here. No good news from me I'm afraid.

Had to restore my pwned 1.1.4 after a strange lockup.

I saw that 2.0 was pwnable so tried to restore with that. I have tried many variations now. Mainly trying to restore to 1.1.4 using itunes 7.5 on both windows and mac.

I get some 160X errors - but these seem to be communication failures between itunes and phone.

Mostly it hangs at "Waiting for iPhone".

    I am using DFU mode.

I've tried various things like restarting iTunes without touching the phone (someone claims it works for 160x errors).

When it is stuck if I restore with standard 1.1.4 firmware the phone shows the apple logo and the spinning ring. If I use my old custom firmware I get da pineapple.

I'm wondering whether this is a hardware problem in my case.

    Help appreciated.

Can I also join the club?

    Here's my story so far...

A friend gave me his old 2G iPhone a couple of weeks ago because he bought himself a new 3G.
Since then I've been trying to restore it and unlock and jailbreak it.

The phone gets recognized in itunes (7.5 or 7.7) just fine, but I can't seem to restore it to any firmware (I've tried 1.1.3 and 1.1.4); it gets stuck every time in "preparing iphone for restore", last time I left it like that for an hour and it still kept saying "preparing iphone for restore".
I've tried using Ziphone 3 to unlock and jailbreak it, ziphone says it's connected to the iphone and working, but nothing happens.

Now, I've noticed something weird: the firmware of the phone is 1.1.3 (4A93) (itunes 7.5 is telling me there is an upgrade to 1.1.4 available and 7.7 tells me there is 2.0.2), but the baseband is 04.04.05_G, which I thought is the baseband for the 1.1.4 firmware.

When trying to sync the phone I get the following messages:
"Attempting to copy to the disk "iphone" failed. The disk could not be read from or written to" and then "The iphone "iphone" cannot be synced. The required disk cannot be found".

I have also tried iLiberty, iBrickr, PC Suite, WinPwn,... all of them fail to access the phone.

I have no problem getting it recognised by iTunes and putting it into DFU mode, but as soon as any writing has to be done, everything blocks and connection with the iphone seems to be lost.

KiPhone seemed the solution to my problem... Seemed.

I got text scrolling on the phone when running KiPhone... until I got the BSD root error...

I managed to get out of it... but nothing changed...
Since then I have been unable to get KiPhone working again.

I have run out of possibilities, anyone can help?

I am requesting your assistance on this one.

I've tried to use winpwn 2.0.0.3 in order to flash a 2G iphone to the 2.0 pwned firmware; but during the final step (actually flashing the iphone in DFU mode), itunes didn't go past "waiting for iphone".

I thought that the image I created got somehow corrupted so I "cancelled" the flashing procedure (read: resetted the phone again in DFU).

Now, every time I'm trying to flash the iphone with any image (1.1.4, 2.0pwned, 2.0 plain), I'm stuck on that "waiting for iphone" prompt.

On the phone, I'm able to get the recovery mode and DFU. I'm unable to get out of recovery mode at all.

The 2.0 fw that I used is the correct one (the one designed for the 2G phones).

Anybody has a trick to help me get back on my feets? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Givemelove.
Last few days I become experienced on this kind of problem.

If you try to install 1.1.4 then use iTunes 7.5 only and use it in different PC with fresh load.

If you try to use pwned firmware 2.0 / 2.0.1 / 2.0.2 then you should use iTunes 7.7.1 and your iTunes should be pwned also otherwise it will not accept the custom firmware.

If you have old iTunes install just completely remove it fully and then install the new iTunes.

I've got the same problem. Did someone found a solution yet? Or do I have to replace the mainboard or so?
