I am on a 1st Gen phone too. Upgraded from a pwned 2.0.1. Everything survived except Cydia and Installer and stuff I manually SSHed into. Phone was unlocked and activated. Not jailbroken. QuickPwn solved that.

    Question

I am currently on winpwned 2.0 (not 2.0.1). Can I still do this upgrade? Or should I first restore to 2.0.1 winpwned then upgrade to 2.0.2?
    thanks.
    regards,

Edit : OK, I tried. It remains unlocked but asks for activation. Any idea why?

Last edit : I solved the activation problem with quickpwn-gui after I upgraded. Everything is perfect now. I even didn't lose any data.

I am on 1.1.4 on my classic phone. It was jailbroken, activated and unlocked using ZiPhone. Can I use the 2.0.2 firmware file and quickpwn to upgrade and keep my phone unlocked?

No, there are too many changes from V1.1.4 to V2.0.x, you will need to do a full restore with a customised IPSW (either 2.0.0 or 2.0.1 as winpwn/pwnage isn't ready for 2.0.2 yet), then upgrade to 2.0.2 through iTunes and use Quickpwn to jailbreak again.

Ok I understand the upgrading with 2.0.0 or 2.0.1 customized IPSW. But won't upgrading from iTunes take away my SIM unlock even if I am able to jailbreak it later. I am on Vodafone which doesn't have iPhone contract where I live.

    Default Need Advice

Hi Guys.Would like to ask a question.

I am on 2.0.1 and got there using a custom restore image downloaded off a torrent. No issues so far except for apps crashing once in a while but that's ok.However previously i got to 2.0 using Winpwn meaning my 2g iphone is j/a/u and pwned.I got loads of apps(7 pages free and cracked.ipa's) loaded in via itunes .

If i update to 2.0.2 via itunes will i
    1.continue to be a/j/u?
2.Will i loose all my apps?(i know i will looses cydia and installer)
3.Will i loose apps downloaded via cydia and installer

    Please advice

    Appreciate it

    hi Hussainally!

when you are on a pwnd 2.0.1

    1) you will stay a and u, not j, but you can jailbreak 2.0.2 with "quickpwn". i did that with 3 phones, works fine!
2)you will lose all 3rd party apps (ie from cydia and installer), cydia and installer come again with quickpwn, but with restricted number of apps, compatible with2.0.2.
all apps from applestore remain if compatible with 2.0.2.
    3)see answere 2)

    bye
