i just got a new iphone and this one has come 1.1.4 OOB which i havent jailbroken before, i had a look around on the forums but i just wanted to clarify, to jailbreak and unlock i can use winpwn right? and i can use the winpwn guide in the tutorial section to do that? any help would be awesome.

also, is there anything particularly bad about 2.x which i should consider before updating to it?

Some people say 2.1 is a bit slower then 1.1.4 but for me thats not a bad trade off seeing I get push mail & the app store.

Thanks for the info I think im going to stick with 1.1.4 atm, can I use quickpwn for that? I couldn't really find a guide on just jailbreak/unlock on 1.1.4. I might be looking wrong or just out of date im not sure. also, is there any kind of complete backup software available so if I did decide to upgrade to 2.1 and I didnt like it I could easily restore it to its 1.1.4 state?

itunes backs everything up apart from the 3rd party apps settings pictures everything, unless oyu meant only 3rd party apps to save which you can dl easily again from cydia and installer i think through ssh you can backup a lot of apps to though 3rd party ones you need to download the 2.X version anyway
