I really think you guys are confused and restoring your phones when it is not required and an adjustment of the iPlayer settings page on the BBC site will sort it (along with deleting your cache/cookies).
But if restoring is what you want to do then thats your choices!
iPhone US 8GB
FW 1.0.2--> iUnlock--> iPhoneSIMfree--> 1.1.1 --> 1.1.2--> Soft upgrade 1.1.3 --> 1.1.4 using signal.app
iPhone UK 16GB
FW 1.1.3 OOB --> 1.1.4 --> iPlus 1.2 unlocked!
<----If I helped you out, rep points are always nice (thanks for that idea!)

Tried that on both our phones and it had no effect.

OK, here's a weird one.
Yesterday, following the advice on here, I restored our phones with Pwnage, loaded up BBC iPlayer before performing any other installations, notably BSD Subsystem. Magically iPlayer started working again and the fix persisted after installing BSD etc. Happy iPhones
This morning though, on seeing the new release of Pwnage (and being desperate to try out the custom package function) I restored my phone again, this time using Pwnage to "preinstall" BSD Subsystem and Open SSH.
Part way through the restore I though "Oh no, this will mean that iPlayer won't work now because BSD will be installed before I've had a chance to run iPlayer!" However, once the restore had finished, I checked and iPlayer still works fine.

I am willing to accept I was wrong in so far as getting an "error with movie" message.
What I suggested before will make the play button appear if it doesn't.
However I have discovered after restoring my phone as I was having battery issues that I can't get the movie to play without the error message.
I do not feel its worth restoring again but someone should sort out these BSD issues.
I discovered if I save a bookmark in safari BEFORE installing BSD then the bookmarks won't save when I reboot the phone! go figure!

For me, at least, it turns out to be the BSD Subsystem.
BBC iPlayer WILL work if you make sure you play a programme as soon as Boot Neuter finishes doing its thing straight after a custom restore and BEFORE you install anything else (like BSD Subsystem). After you have played something, you can then install anything you like and it will carry on working.
So its like this: PWN > BOOT NEUTER > BBC IPLAYER > BSD SUBSYSTEM etc
This definitely works. I have now tried it with 10 more iphones.
So if its not working for you, restore with your custome ipsw and follow the running order above.
Hi navco786
Thanks for posting the above.
I tried everything with the settings as mentioned already but it was all to no avail.
Then I then tried what you said and it fixed it.
I suspect that the BBC will not comment, as they can't as it is been done on hacked iphones.

Yes - restore with iTunes to 1.1.4.
Your phone will stay unlocked as long as your restoring to the same firmware as you unlocked with originally. (If you unlocked on 1.1.4 then it will stay unlocked).
Just run jailbreak/activation/installer using iLiberty (DO NOT UNLOCK AGAIN AS IT IS ALREADY UNLOCKED!)
Then use the BBC iPlayer and THEN install BSD Subsystem.

Hi everyone. If your iplayer was working but has now stopped then you need to install a fix which clears your cookies. To do this, add the following to your Installer source:
navco786.com/edge.xml
Then install the 'BBC iplayer Fix' from the navco786 category. Now try the iplayer, it should work. If it doesn't work the first time, try restarting your iphone. This also fixes the issue where a website keeps asking you to log in everytime even though you already did e.g. ebay
<<<<<<<<<<<< If this works for you give me a 'thumbs up'

I managed to fix this , i have an elegant solution.
The thing that messed things up iplayer for me was Dtunes.
Although a great app it silently installs the Safari DL patch, what i did was to install the boss prefs toggle from cydia.
Now when i want iplayer i disable the DL path in boss prefs and when i want to use Dtunes, i enable it.
I hope this helps everyone else i did a lot of restoring and such before i found this fix!
