It's 2 or 3 years that I'd like to use OSX, my dell studio is compatible at all except for that damn graphic card... Ati Mobilibity HD 3450
Someone said that this card will never be supported, otherone are tring to make a framebuffer and kext with the native lion Ati...
But at this time all seems the same...
I'm pretty bored of windows 7 on laptop and I'd like to use OSX but I can just change the resolution
I remember that when I installed it one time I can use coverflow, and listen to music, but I don't remember if I can use webcam, flash and PS...
Do you think that a system without QE/CI is completely unusable?or I can use it for everyday use and some little graphics...
I don't pretend to make video editing but just some graphics with PS, writing, webdevelope, music, flash and of course video/musc playback

The way Apple has implemented CoreImage allows the OS to gracefully degrade when used with a computer that doesn't support CoreImage.
Some apps that require CoreImage for more than just eye candy (eg Aperture) will simply refuse to run.

QuartzExtreme is a different factor, if your hackint0sh can't support this then your CPU must handle these tasks that would ordinarily be offloaded to the GPU. If your CPU isn't up to the task then this can mean stuttering or dropping frames on video playback or slowness/jerkiness when moving windows around the screen.

It's up to you if you can live with these constraints.

all the GPU task are taken from the CPU and this means that CPU will work more than it usually do, and this means that the battery will run out faster...

Ati mobility 3450 will never be supported and I don't understand why...if the last Lion framework is compatible with a range of ati graphic card...

There can be many factors as to why a specific graphics chip isn't supported. I have a laptop with a Nvidia 140M - it's not supported due to the way that particular OEM integrated this graphics chip. The same chip in other laptops (eg Dell) works.
