Should I worry about updating?

I play on install Snow Leopard and Windows 7 using the life hacker method to install snow leopard (the guide that superseded their old one). I will be using a core 2 quad processor if that makes a difference. I just want to know that when I run software update for the first time if I will be able to update the OS X software to 10.6.3

i was able to update to 10.6.3 but it messed up my video . after the update i could no longer view pictures or movies.

when i updated to 10.6.4 it messed up my wireless.

so i reinstalled the original 10.6 and now everything is working perfect

A lot of people are having problems with their wireless connection after updating to 10.6.4 (It won't work at all).
