Default hard drive making clicking noise on hackintosh but not on windows

my hard drive is constantly clicking.. well when stuff is getting written to it.. sounds like its failing or something.. but the thing is it doesnt click when using windows.. i couldnt use the whole hard drive space due to only being able to use the chameleon RC2 bootloader anytime i try to use a newer one it causes the fans to go crazy then my monitor will kick off... i have 1.5 TB hard drive but due to the bootloader can only use bout 990 gig... if i use more it wont boot.. could it be clicking due to it being partitioned or something im at a lose here.. and if i stand a chance of tearing up my hard drive im just going back to windows... knowing it could probably be a million different things i guess it would probably be impossible to figure out what it is... but just really want to know if i stand a chance of screwing up my hd... any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated
