    Default Switching between operating systems?

Before I start installing os x on my laptop, there's one question that I have that I haven't seen and it's probably because it's a really dumb one, but:
When getting a distro from iAtikos or w/e, well it let you pick which OS you want to use when you start up the laptop each time? Because I don't want to install it if it's only going to be Mac OS X. If so is there a special command that you have to do to switch between them or will a menu come up when you start your computer.

Again sorry if this is a dumb question, but I tried searching through the forums if I could find something like this, but I couldn't find anything :x

    Thanks
