sound and boot questions
I have 2 issues.
I installed 10.5.2 on 2 computers.
1) asus 945 chipset dual core
2) foxconn 925 chipset P4
the install worked on both, but ...
the foxconn only sees the usb sound adapter if I boot with it connected. it works with ilife08 and garage band! it is not seeing the wifi card, but i'll look into that, not a showstopper.
the asus will only boot by selecting f8 and then -x
the asus will not work with my usb sound adapter, that works on the foxconn.
the assus has an attansic nic and i found the driver online and got it to work. i'm using it now!
I wonder if the -x option is screwing up the sound. I don;t know why it will only boot with -x. without -x it looks like it is booting then hangs at the blue screen with the multicolor circle spinning in the middle.
Any ideas on how to get mu asus computer to boot without the "-x" or how to trouble shoot the boot process. any help will be greatly appreciated.

-x is akin to windows safe mode with networking and no sound drivers ( and other unneeded drivers loaded ) will be loaded. you can try booting with cpus=1 -v and see if that will get past the spinning thingy of death
