I'm in a situation where I need to do some iPhone development, but I do not personally own a Mac, so I have been playing around with trying to get OSX running on my AMD machine (an older AMD64 3200+). I had managed to install Leopard 10.5.1 alright, but when I later tried to install the iPhone SDK it informed me that it needed at least 10.5.7.
And so I had tried to upgrade, but it killed the system. At any rate, I'm now trying to get either Snow Leopard or Leopard 10.5.8 onto my machine. But in preparation for that, I had noticed online that some posts from two years ago note that there is a lot of extra tweaking that needs to be done to get the iPhone SDK working.
I was kind of just hoping it would work out of the box... but is this not the case? Are things currently the same way they were two years ago with respect to using the iPhone SDK on a non-Apple machine? Or would I be better off doing my development in a virtual machine?
To update you need to check our guides in the tutorial section, there lots of guides about how to update too, google it. If this is too complaticated for you, you can try to install the latest distro from iAtkos, this support software update without problems. Theres guides for snow too.
Thanks for the notes. I'll check out the guides to see what I can do about getting 10.5.8 on successfully. But do you have any thoughts on getting the iPhone SDK up and running? I would need at minimum some means to compile code and load it into the simulator. Whether or not it can interact with a physical iPhone isn't too much of a concern since at least one of the other developers I will be working with has an actual Mac.
So far I know it works on hackintosh, you just need the latest updates OSX 10.5.8 or 10.6.
Hi. It works fine on a hackintosh. Get 10.5.8 (i used ideneb) or SL 10.6.2 (i use SnowOSUniflash)

i didnt have to do a lot of tweaking to get it work... i started with iPC 10.5.6 then used iDeneb combo update to get to 10.5.8, the install sdk 3.1.2 with no problems at all. fully working
