I using C336 (MOBO intel 945 gtp) - so slowly. Try change proc with pentium D945 (with hope). BIOS identified proc, OS start loading... And PC freez on spinning sun - GUI not working. Return Celeron back. OS loading OK.
iDeneb 10.5.7. If information not enough i send more. Please help people!
You can try boot options
-x -v -f
to force system/startup caches rebuilt.

There would be several issues.
Once caches cleared, it should run in normal mode with your new CPU.
There are actual CPU detection, about this mac, kernel selection.
Look at Activity monitor, at bottom tab for CPU, there should be two graphs representing your 2 CPU's.
About this mac could be modified with OSX86Tools.
What kernel are you using? For Celeron maybe Voodoo 9.7?
Vanilla kernel would not be very good on your CPU's.

It would be easier for you to reinstall OSX instead of repairing it because you need to install/delete several kexts and modify some .plist files.
Backup your important files and boot the install DVD with your new CPU to see if you can get to installer screen.
The best kernel for yours may be Qoopz/Anv.

There are several things to check though.
Boot loader, CPU ID injection, system ID etc..
Check under System Profiler to see what OSX ID your system.
Post your Boot.plist to see if there is any entry limiting your CPU.
Work with this occasionally - now continue. Sound start play from blue connector (hi-hi). I look trough Boot.plist. This file too simple. May be add hardly into Boot.plist Kernel flag cpus=2?Quote:
